Job Description:
This project provides review of and assurance around impairment of large internally developed software projects (per accounting guidance SOP 98-1).
The incumbent will work with the Finance Group that oversees IT software projects.
We select 3-4 of the largest software projects, and the incumbent will need to: Evaluate the assets currently being amortized.
Understand the software application.
Evaluate for possible issues of impairment (e.g., software no longer in use, about to be replaced, or not being used as intended).
This involves working with areas across the firm (e.g., meetings with IT project management and business users).
The incumbent must be able to collect and create the appropriate working documentation, drive the reviews to completion each quarter and prepare a presentation for management.
Required:
7+ Years experience working as a Business Analyst and a financial services background is required.
Strong organizational and project management skills.
Excellent follow up skills.
Expert with MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.
Excellent (clear and concise) verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
Interpersonal skills (e.g., diplomacy).
Familiarity with accounting and budgeting (or the aptitude to pick up accounting concepts of impairment ).
Technical background or experience with financial software.
Experienced in taking responsibility for investigating and closing issues.
Be self-starter, a self-manager and take imitative.
Strong analytical skills, both qualitative and quantitative.
Strong consultative skills - listening, building consensus, communicating with a big picture mindset.
Intellectual curiosity.
