Senior Business Analyst

Job Summary: Collaborates with Product Owners to increase the value delivered to the Business units. Acting as a liaison between the Product Owner and Agile Team, elicits requirements and creates agile user stories while offering both technical analysis and alternative Business solutions. Performs testing of agile user stories and support the implementation of system changes. May lead and coordinate the mentoring and training of the Business Analyst Team on topics such as Business process, Business Analyst skills and techniques, and the agile methodology.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
• Speaks and understands the language of our Business when communicating with the Product Owners and Business Users, and the technical language of our Agile Teams when communicating with Developers and Testers.
• Collaborates with the Product Owner in order to expand their understanding of all business processes, procedures, goals, and objectives. Operates as a subject matter expert for two or more domains.
• Attends and may lead requirements meetings with the Business in order to further understand Business priorities.
• Uses investigative skills to analyze proposed changes for system impacts, identify issues, and suggests alternatives. Considers enterprise wide impacts of proposed solutions. This may include changes to current processes, applications, file layouts, and web services.
• Analyzes Business needs to determine if process changes will resolve the issue. Works in partnership with the Product Owner to write clear and concise Agile user stories when technical solutions are required. Breaks down larger user stories into multiple, smaller, user stories according to departmental standards.
• Assists the Product Owner to record priority order to ensure it is done frequently, completely, and in a timely manner. Uses their understanding of the Customer, the Business, and the domain in order to aid in decision making.
• Attends and engages in daily standup meetings along with other agile team ceremonies.
• Uses Business and Customer knowledge to create new test cases that are beyond the happy path. Follows departmental testing processes to create and document test cases, execute test cases for assigned stories, verify and report the results. Offers feedback about testing process to Test Management in order to improve testing of Enterprise applications.
• May extract test data from databases by creating new, or altering existing, complex SQL queries. The data will be used for testing and verification of results.
• Expected to swarm user stories in order to help the team meet their commitments for the sprint.
• Assists the Product Owner and Scrum Master to prepare for Team Sprint Reviews and System Demos. May lead the Review or Demo meetings.
• Constantly looks for ways to improve processes and discuss issues, all in order to deliver better value to the customer. May lead initiatives to implement changes or new processes.
a. Mentors and trains other team members on agile principals and ensures that all business processes are adequately documented.
b. Assists with, or may lead, the Business Analyst Community of Practice meetings in order to drive craftsmanship and continuous learning.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Position requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, business administration, or a related field and five years of experience identifying, organizing, analyzing, testing, communicating, and documenting business rules, system requirements, and process workflows. Experience leading projects in an agile environment preferred. Will accept any suitable combination of education, training, or experience.
• Experience with the Agile methodology (Scrum or SAFe is preferred) and tools used to create and track Agile user stories (VersionOne is preferred).
• Experience creating, altering, and running SQL queries is a bonus.
• Ability to review software changes and determine system impact.
• Experience with incident/support ticketing systems and process workflow.
• Ability to analyze and resolve problems. The ability to be flexible and thrive in a fast paced and active work environment.
• Excellent communication skills in order to effectively interact with internal and external customers.
