What is the opportunity?

The Senior Business Analyst role in RBC Capital Markets will be at the forefront of developing innovative digital products and solutions tailored to meet the evolving needs of Institutional, Commercial, and Corporate clients, while also supporting the broader objectives of Global Market's businesses. In this pivotal role, the individual will be responsible for conducting in-depth market research, analyzing trends, and gathering critical insights from stakeholders to inform the development of cutting-edge digital offerings. Leveraging an understanding of business and client requirements, the Senior Business Analyst will translate business goals into actionable product roadmaps, define detailed requirements, and collaborate closely with product managers, technical teams, and UX/UI designers to ensure the successful delivery of user-centric solutions.

The candidate will play a key role in the entire product lifecycle, from ideation through launch, including prototyping, MVP development, and post-launch optimization. They will ensure strict compliance with industry regulations and manage risk effectively. This role demands a strategic thinker who can monitor product performance, drive continuous improvement, and champion innovation, all while maintaining robust documentation and reporting to senior management.

What will you do?

Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to define the vision and roadmap for new digital products and solutions; translate business objectives into detailed product requirements and specifications.

Conduct research to understand the needs and pain points of Institutional, Commercial, and Corporate clients and business within Capital Markets; analyze market trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory changes that could impact product development and positioning

Engage with clients, traders, sales teams, and other stakeholders to gather insights and feedback on product requirements; facilitate communication and collaboration between business units and engineering teams.

Work with solution architects and technical teams to design digital products that meet client needs while aligning with the organization's technology strategy; ensure that the proposed solutions integrate seamlessly with existing systems and platforms.

Assist in developing prototypes and minimum viable products (MVPs) to validate concepts and gather user feedback; prioritize features and functionalities for phased rollouts based on business impact and client value.

Help manage the product development lifecycle, from ideation to launch and beyond; monitor project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure successful delivery of digital products.

Ensure that new digital products comply with relevant regulations and industry standards; work with risk management teams to identify and mitigate potential risks associated with product offerings.

Collaborate with UX/UI designers to create intuitive and user-friendly interfaces for digital products; incorporate client feedback into design iterations to enhance user satisfaction.

Develop and oversee testing plans to ensure that products meet quality standards and functional requirements; coordinate with QA teams to identify and resolve defects and issues; develop and execute change management strategies to facilitate the adoption of new digital products; create training materials and conduct sessions to educate users on the features and benefits of new solutions.

Monitor product performance using analytics and feedback to identify areas for improvement; recommend enhancements and optimizations to increase product value and client satisfaction; maintain comprehensive documentation for product features, user guides, and technical specifications; prepare reports for senior management detailing product development progress, risks, and market impact.

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have:

Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Business Administration, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field

3-5+ years of business analysis experience, with a demonstrated track record in capital markets or financial services. This includes experience in requirements gathering, process mapping, and stakeholder management.

Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP), Professional in Business Analysis (PMI-PBA), or certifications in Agile methodologies.

Nice To Have:

Understanding of capital markets, trading or asset management, including familiarity with financial instruments, market dynamics, and regulatory environment is an asset.
