Senior Business Analyst - Financial Systems
Job Summary
The Senior Business Analyst works with the business and IT Management to implement high quality, robust, scalable, and cost-effective business systems. Manages and coordinates requirements gathering, vendor evaluation, strategic systems planning, process reengineering, design, development, documentation, release management, and production support.
Responsibility
Defines scope and objectives on assigned projects. Prepares functional process charts to analyze business operations. Gathers and documents business requirements. Plans, designs, or modifies practical manual and automated business procedures. Assists with the design of business processes and documentation. Prepares detailed specifications for business applications. Follows PPLM (Project & Product Linamar Methodology) on all Projects. Performs a lead role in the planning, design, development, and deployment of new business applications and enhancements to existing business applications. Meets with decision makers, systems owners, and end users to define business requirements and systems goals, and identify and resolve business systems issues. Performs cost-benefit and return on investment analyses for proposed systems to aid management in making implementation decisions. Works with QA team to coordinate and perform in-depth tests, for modified and new systems. Conducts research on hardware and software products to justify recommendations and to support purchasing. Provides orientation and training to end users for all modified and new systems. Meets with business customers to discuss topics such as project activities, technical specifications, current business practices, growth plans, regulatory and reporting requirements, and security risks. Collaborates with external stakeholders / vendors to ensure that project goals, timelines, and deliverables align with business objectives and stakeholder expectations. Mentors Junior and Intermediate Business Analysts. Various special projects and ad hoc requests as assigned.
Academic/Educational Requirements
University degree or college diploma in the field of computer science, information science, management information systems, business administration, finance, or a related discipline. PMI CAPM/PMP certification or relevant courses are preferred. CPA designation is an asset. BA certification or relevant courses are preferred
Required Skills/Experience
Minimum of six years of work experience as a System Analyst, Project, Business Analyst, IT Project Manager in a manufacturing environment. Knowledge / Experience with Microsoft T-SQL, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS and / or Oracle database Ability to interpret process flow charts to understand what data is captured and how it travels between various applications and hardware components. Ability to assess the suitability of database platforms and software applications such as enterprise reporting tools and online transaction processing systems. Ability to work independently but may also work on teams with project leaders, software developers and subject matter experts as required. Knowledge of business applications (OneStream, SAP BPC) and ERP systems (IFS, SAP, JD Edwards, etc.). Engage in continuous learning through updates in technical skills through technical reading, consulting co-workers, attending conferences and workshops, and active on-line participation. Consult with team members frequently discussing problems encountered.
