Senior Business Analyst (Commercial Mortgage Loan)
Description Apply Now Open sharing options Save Saved Share This position provides support by performing analysis and reporting to the Commercial Mortgage Loan Investment Team within Columbia Threadneedle Investments, an Ameriprise Financial company. The individual selected for this position will have excellent reporting and analytical skills and be able to manage the fast pace of the business. The Business System Analyst is responsible for supporting and assisting senior systems analyst in accounting and reporting functions, managing and writing query reports and supporting the reporting needs of the other team members.

Key Responsibilities

Preparation of journal entries dealing with more complex accounting functions according to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and internal policies. Reviews, analyzes, and resolves discrepancy issues in accounting transactions to ensure accounts are balanced. Revises complex spreadsheets and updates financial reports. Follows specific and detailed accounting procedures. Responsible for managing bank reporting including reconciliation of several General Ledger/Payable accounts and researching any issues or problems.Own the recurring investment reporting for Portfolio Managers and investment teams. Reporting covers a variety of outputs including investment positioning, valuation, risk monitoring, and originations volumes. Accuracy and timeliness of publication is critical as the output is relied on by internal and external stakeholders. Preparation of the reporting includes using queries to extract data from the loan administration database and manipulation of the data into presentation formats.Performs various quality control functions for the department and update data in databases to ensure information is accurate and immediately available when needed.Assist with various accounting/reporting projects and other miscellaneous business support to the department. Including managing uploads to Workday Accounts Payable Ledger and other systems used by the team.Improves processes to ensure that integrity, control and optimal efficiency are established while minimizing financial risks. Develops and implements process improvement initiatives that support the department goals and service levels.Complete special projects and participate in various department initiatives as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related fields.3 - 5 years of proven work experience.Demonstrated ability to complete quantitative analysis using multiple data sources.Ability to multi-task, quickly change direction and independently prioritize work to support multiple people. Ability to learn, understand and apply technology as it relates to the business.Strong technical ability using the general ledger, spreadsheets, and proficiency with Microsoft computer programs, Workday and SharePoint.Experience in report writing or query work and demonstrated knowledge of spreadsheet and/or database creation and manipulation of data and/or structure of same.Ability to anticipate needs and make independent judgments. Effective communication skills, with ability to verbally present findings to management.Ability to build relationships across multiple partners with strong teamwork and collaboration skills.Professional, self-motivated and able to work with limited supervision.Role requires occasional work on weekends or holidays to support system migration in off-business hours or timeliness of reporting around critical quarter-end and year-end dates.

Preferred Qualifications

Some commercial or residential mortgage experience.Solid experience with query report writing or Access, (position requires learning IBM iSeries (AS400).
