Your role and responsibilities

As the Senior Business Development Manager at ABB Motion Canada, your mission will be to enhance ABB’s market visibility, identify strategic mergers and acquisitions (M&A) opportunities, and drive sustainability leadership in the electrification and automation sectors. This role will require a high level of networking, establishing ABB’s presence at industry events, and fostering C-level discussions to elevate ABB’s profile in the Canadian market.You will focus on building an M&A pipeline by identifying potential investment opportunities, while ABB Motion Group leads the screening and due diligence processes. Simultaneously, you’ll play a key role in promoting ABB Motion’s commitment to sustainability, positioning the company as a leader in eco-friendly technology and sustainable practices.M&A Pipeline Development:•\tIdentify and build a strong pipeline of potential M&A opportunities by researching market trends, engaging with industry stakeholders, and identifying strategic acquisition targets.•\tUse your networking efforts and industry relationships to identify companies or partners with strong synergies for ABB Motion’s growth strategy.•\tWork in close collaboration with ABB Motion Group’s corporate development team, providing local insights that guide the M&A screening and evaluation processes.•\tStay informed on industry dynamics and emerging companies to uncover new opportunities for investment or partnership.Market Visibility & Networking:•\tAct as the face of ABB Motion Canada by representing the company at key industry events, conferences, and trade associations, establishing ABB as a thought leader in electrification, automation, and sustainability.•\tEngage in C-level discussions with industry leaders, customers, and partners to create opportunities for strategic collaboration and to showcase ABB’s innovative solutions.•\tBuild relationships within industry associations, business councils, and sustainability groups to strengthen ABB’s presence and influence in Canada.•\tCollaborate with marketing teams to ensure ABB’s visibility campaigns align with business development goals and sustainability objectives.Sustainability Advocacy:•\tPromote ABB’s sustainability vision by integrating eco-friendly practices into business strategies, product offerings, and market positioning.•\tActively represent ABB’s sustainability initiatives at relevant forums, ensuring the company is seen as a leader in green technology and sustainable industry practices.•\tCollaborate with internal and external stakeholders to strengthen ABB’s reputation for delivering energy-efficient solutions that support Canada’s transition to a low-carbon economy.•\tLeverage your presence in the market to advocate for ABB’s sustainability goals and to identify investment opportunities that align with our long-term commitment to sustainability.Strategic Business Development & Growth:•\tIdentify and assess new business opportunities in the Canadian market, building relationships with key customers and partners that drive revenue growth.•\tDevelop comprehensive strategies that align with ABB Motion’s overall business development objectives and help position the company for long-term success.•\tSupport the sales team by providing market insights, identifying customer needs, and aligning business development efforts with broader organizational goals.•\tAnalyze market trends and feedback to ensure ABB’s solutions are continuously evolving to meet customer demands and emerging sustainability challenges.

Qualifications for the role

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field; MBA preferred.7+ years of experience in business development, with a focus on M&A pipeline creation, sustainability initiatives, and market expansion.Strong networking and relationship-building skills, with proven experience in C-level discussions and industry events.Knowledge of sustainability practices within industrial, electrification, or automation sectors.Ability to represent a company in high-profile public and private settings, promoting both business and sustainability objectives.Strong business acumen, with an ability to translate market insights into actionable strategies.Excellent communication and negotiation skills.Fluent in English and French. French is required. English is also required to communicate with customers outside Quebec on a regular basis.
