How You’ll Support Our Mission

As a Senior Business Intelligence Developer, you will create and manage data models, integrations, and analytical solutions to unlock critical insights from ESO’s production cloud systems and business management systems. You will be joining a fast-past team, chartered with building a first-class Enterprise Analytics environment for internal business teams operating across domestic and international markets.  You will collaborate with business stakeholders to capture essential reporting requirements, identify viable solutions, and deliver cloud-based data products that power business reporting and self-service analytics. The ideal candidate is familiar with modern cloud ETL/ELT and Data Warehouse strategies as well as technologies that support scalable, interactive data visualizations.

Technical aptitude is clearly important for this position but above all else, we seek individuals with a strong intellectual curiosity and aptitude for business strategy.  If you enjoy leveraging data to answer difficult business strategy questions and optimize operational processes, this is the role for you.

What You’ll Be Doing

This role reports to the Director of Enterprise Business Intelligence.  You can expect to:

Participate in business analysis, translating requirements into specifications and business logic. Use data lakes and query languages to pull, cleanse, and prepare data. Create and implement data reporting models, integrations, and analytical solutions. Build Power BI dashboards and reports that drive action and decision making for stakeholders. Develop and update technical documentation around KPI data objects and upstream dependencies to support Data Observability and Governance. Participate and lead continuous process improvement practices.

Who You Are - the essentials

Some of the things required to be successful in the role: 

5+ years of experience with data warehousing, ELT/ETL development, BI, and reporting tools (e.g., Sisense, Tableau, Power BI). 5+ years of experience developing quantitative reports and dashboards for customers and in-house business stakeholders. Expert level SQL skills with strong data pipeline experience, supporting continuous extraction and incremental processing of data at scale. Excellent analytical & problem-solving skills with a track record of successful BI project deployments. Excellent attention to detail and thoroughness in work. Strong understanding of data integration issues (validation and cleaning), familiarity with complex data structures, relational design, and dimensional modeling. Strong interest in applied knowledge of statistics, KPIs/metrics, and trend analysis Ability to communicate effectively to audiences with a wide range of technical and business expertise.

Who You Are - the desirables

It’s a plus if you have: 

Experience in Healthcare / Public Safety sectors Experience with Azure Synapse and Snowflake Experience with a scripting language (Python, R) for data analysis
