JOB SUMMARY\n
The Senior Buyer performs several job functions under the supervision of the Purchasing Manager. \n
QUALIFICATIONS\n
Education and Experience:\n
High school diploma or equivalent. Seven years of state or local government purchasing experience required. Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.\n
Special Requirements:\n
Experience and certification by NIGP or NPI in governmental purchasing or ability to achieve like preferred. Microsoft experience in Word and Excel are required. \n
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: \n\nKnowledge of current state and local government purchasing laws.\nKnowledge of Microsoft products, Incode purchasing and Warehouse modules.\nSkill in computer, word processing, spreadsheet software applications, technical writing and ability to communicate effectively and efficiently on a professional level, including public speaking.\nSkill ensuring all purchases are made in accordance with state and federal laws and the City of Conroe Purchasing Policy.\nAbility to type 40 WPM accurately.\nAbility to demonstrate excellent communication skills to interact with vendors for the acquisition of items and to ensure delivery in a timely manner. \nAbility to communicate with department personnel and directors.\nGood communication and organization skills.\nExcellent negotiation skills.\n\n
PHYSICAL DEMANDS\n
The work is sedentary and requires the ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and\/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: fingering, handling, hearing, mental acuity, repetitive motions, speaking, talking and visual acuity.\n
