Senior Buyer
Job Title: Senior Buyer Job Description The Senior Buyer will be responsible for developing and implementing procurement strategies that align with the company’s goals. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong analytical skills, excellent negotiation abilities, and a deep understanding of market dynamics. They will be working through the product lifecycle financials. Experience supporting diesel engines is a plus. Responsibilities + Develop and execute sourcing strategies to meet the company’s procurement needs, focusing on cost reduction, quality improvement, and supplier reliability. + Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with key suppliers to ensure the best possible terms and performance. + Conduct thorough market research and analysis to stay informed about industry trends, pricing, and emerging suppliers. + Lead complex negotiations with suppliers to secure favorable terms, pricing, and contracts. + Identify and mitigate risks in the supply chain to ensure continuity and reliability. + Continuously seek opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements within the procurement process. + Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and finance, to align procurement strategies with business objectives. + Prepare and present regular reports on procurement activities, cost savings, supplier performance, and market trends. Essential Skills + 5-8 years of manufacturing strategic buying experience/Commodity or Category Manager. + Experienced with high-level negotiations. + Supplier experience versus customer experience. + Category risk management. + LEAN & mechanical background . + MRP and planner experience. + Buying experience. + Data entry. + Negotiation skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Automotive industry experience is extremely helpful. + Experience with engines and compressors. + ERP/MRP experience (Oracle, SAP, Epicor). + Ability to travel up to 25%. + Experience sourcing for new customers and finding the best options. Work Environment You will be on-site five days a week to start, and once up and running, you will be able to work from home one day a week.
