Job Title: Buyer

- This is a 6-month contract or temporary role, with the potential for extension or direct hire based on business needs.
Job Description
The Buyer will be responsible for managing inventory and overseeing the flow of the buying process both internally and externally. This role requires the use of the ERP system Syspro, effective communication with suppliers, and ensuring timely delivery of materials for production needs.
ResponsibilitiesAnalyze daily requirements to determine materials needs and execute purchase orders to satisfy demand schedules.Maintain accurate delivery information on open purchase orders through supplier acknowledgements.Expedite material delivery where necessary for production and service.Continually review stocking levels for each item to provide targeted service levels.Communicate with suppliers to best support the inventory plan and provide timely delivery for production needs.Regularly update backlog status reports and communicate with customer service expected delivery for customer orders.Review and recommend disposition of all excess and obsolete inventory.Perform root cause analysis of service outliers to identify and implement improvements in overall process.Essential Skillsbachelor's degree from an accredited university or college preferred.5 years of Buyer/Planner experience in a manufacturing environment.Previous experience with MRP material related system.Proficient in the use of computer applications Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.Ability to read blueprints, good mathematical aptitude, and knowledge of quality assurance philosophies, practices, and techniques.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to interact and clearly communicate with other functional areas of the organization, management, and suppliers.Understanding of LEAN techniques including material pull systems.Excellent interpersonal skills.Effective presentation of information and ability to respond to questions from managers, employees, and customers.Additional Skills & QualificationsSyspro experience is preferred but not required.Ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time.Go-getter mentality.Strong organizational skills.Familiarity with Nordco equipment is a plus.Work Environment
The role requires working in the office every day, Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM. The position starts with a 6-month contract and has the potential to be extended or become permanent based on performance.
