Summary:
This position will report to the Director of Commodity Purchasing and Sustainability, working on Tyson’s Energy procurement team in a role focused on physical purchasing of natural gas and expanding/improving processes around reporting, analysis, and procurement. Primary responsibilities including managing energy (natural gas and diesel) procurement for Tyson facilities, pricing natural gas basis, providing critical reporting and analysis around commodity markets, and developing and maintaining internal and external relationships.
Duties & Responsibilities
Purchasing physical natural gas and pricing basis for Tyson locationsManaging bulk diesel fuel procurementPulling daily natural gas usages for forecasting, tolerance alignment, renomination and invoicing purposesPerforming RFPs for natural gas supply and providing suppliers with monthly nominationsMonitoring market trends; writing/communicating market commentaryManaging a P&L on natural gas and dieselIn addition, this position will work to develop, maintain and enhance relationships with brokers, suppliers and industry associations and look to forward Tyson’s best interests in its purchasing of energy inputsRequirements
Education: Broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelor's degree or equivalent. Preference of a degree in Economics, Agricultural Economics, Finance, or Supply Chain.
Experience: Two or more years of experience preferred, one year required. Preference given to those with experience in energy procurement, basis trading, energy sustainability, and/or commodity trading.
Computer Skills: Strong computer skills required; basic knowledge of programs such as Outlook, PowerPoint, Word; expertise with Excel. Knowledge of purchasing programs such as SAP, Endur or other ERP software is a plus.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written skills; strong ability to work well with suppliers and internal Tyson stakeholders.
Special Skills: Financial acumen; knowledge of merchandising practices in commodity markets; understand the needs of key stakeholders and have the ability to relay those needs to the various groups; working with numbers; problem solving; ability to prioritize and multi-task; data analytic skills a plus.
