Job Description:

Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Import Buyer to manage the procurement of goods and materials from international suppliers.

In this role, you’ll oversee the end-to-end import process, negotiate with vendors, ensure compliance with trade regulations, and collaborate with our supply chain and production teams to keep our operation on track.

The Senior Buyer - Imports is a fully onsite role in Columbus, Ohio. Remote work is not available.

Responsibilities

Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with overseas vendors to secure cost-effective and reliable supply chains

Manage import logistics, including customs clearance, freight forwarding, and delivery timelines

Ensure compliance with U.S. import regulations, tariffs, and trade policies

Collaborate with product development and inventory teams to align purchases with production schedules and demand forecasts

Monitor global market trends, currency fluctuations, and shipping costs to optimize procurement strategies

Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and resolve any issues related to quality, delays, or pricing discrepancies

Track and report on key performance metrics, such as cost savings, lead times, and supplier performance

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, or a related field preferred.

3+ years of experience in import buying, procurement, or supply chain management.

Strong understanding of international trade regulations, customs processes, and Incoterms.

Proven negotiation skills with a track record of securing favorable terms with suppliers.

Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Fluency in Chinese (Mandarin) and Vietnamese is a plus.

Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data, assess supplier performance, and make data-driven decisions to optimize costs and efficiency.
