Senior Buyer Lead - Indirect Spend

About the role

Responsible for indirect spend portfolio and local source of direct spending based on spend category and buying threshold being defined. The Indirect spending covers all technical, non-technical and service spending (besides categories managed at the Regional or Group level) such as Capex and MRO, Packaging, Energy, Facility Management, lab consumables/services/equipment, G&A-related spending, etc.). Develop and implement sourcing strategies to ensure the most efficient procurement of all spend categories in scope at the best TCO. Create and manage ongoing action plans to continuously reduce factory Purchasing costs according to the assigned targets. Ensure the acquisition and delivery of the right time, costs and quality of the Goods and Services as expressed by the internal customers, and follow the internal guidelines and processes. Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and work closely with them to ensure good collaboration with Purchasing. Ensure the relevant purchasing practices are applied for the categories in scope (strategic, tactical, spot buy) and manage “hands-on” the categories assigned. Ensure compliance with the Group purchasing processes. Generate POs, reports on a regular and ad-hoc basis. Maintained up-to-date documentation of all purchases and performed supplier performance reviews. Manage performance and relationships with the suppliers, to ensure that the facilities have the right supplier base, delivering the right performance (service, quality, TCO). Support and/or lead issues resolution between suppliers and internal stakeholders. Support on an ad-hoc basis other projects for the country. By taking on some managerial tasks during the manager’s absence such as coaching colleagues, resolving issues within and across departments, spreads and implementing purchasing processes effectively and efficiently. The job holder reports directly to the Plant/Country Purchasing manager indirect spend.

 

Key responsibilities include

Sourcing and managing indirect spend purchases for assigned purchasing categories within the local organization (including Capex–Opex) providing full service to internal customers (engineering and maintenance organization, Lab, R&D, HSE, Supply Chain). A step-sourcing approach shall be applied for critical and high-spend categories. Responsible for negotiating with local suppliers to ensure optimum price/quality/service levels. This includes supplier selection, defining Total Cost of Ownership, market analysis, cost benchmarking & complaint handling. Convert PR into PO based on contracted price list/quotation, send Purchase Orders for approval, obtain PO confirmation from the supplier (overseas purchases) &, etc. for category spends handled by you. Increases the maturity level of the local sourcing organization by working on standardization of materials and services, supplier rationalization, implementing purchasing contracts, further streamlining purchasing processes, optimizing purchasing systems (implement catalogs, etc) & spend segmentation. Responsible for ensuring correct implementation of the documented P2P process (Procure to Pay) into our ERP systems ensuring data quality to enable correct reporting for analysis. Supports strategic sourcing initiatives to deliver long-range programs for MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Operating Supplies), Packaging Material and related capital services. Analyses the needs for assigned spend categories; defines and executes sourcing strategies and tactics to meet business goals. Monitors and reports results and KPIs. Take actions where necessary to improve KPIs. Maintained and supported Food Safety and Environmental compliance and or any audit-related, including approved vendor list, vendor performance review, vendor non-compliance as well as vendor creation and maintenance in SRM and PACKSAT. Report activities regularly, support and resolve issues arising from VIM and other tasks or assignments from time to time.

 

About you

A minimum of an 8-year degree in Engineering or any equivalent and a demonstrated historical involvement with Indirect Spend purchases (OPEX indirect Spend such as MRO, QA, Supply Chain, Packaging Material, Wastes Disposal, CAPEX, Project, Supply Chain) with minimum supervision/managerial role. Engineering/Bachelor's degree in a technical field is a plus Solid experience of minimum 8 years in indirect spend purchasing in an international company (preferably in food/pharmaceutical/chemical industries). A high level of computer literacy is essential; total familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and ERP (ORACLE, SAP and MAXIMO) is a plus. English written and spoken fluently. Experience in the food processing, pharmaceutical, or chemical industries is preferred/Experience in international sourcing is helpful /Advanced English. Technical knowledge and functional understanding of food processing equipment / Project Management experience / A proven background in RFI / RFQ / RFP procedures /An understanding of capital equipment projects and being able to support initiatives with cost analysis and with an identified supplier base.
