Senior Buyer/Planner

You’ll partner cross-functionally with manufacturing operations and sales teams, delivering thoughtful solutions to complex challenges all while developing your knowledge of the medical device industry. Whether your work includes strategic inventory planning, labeling, warehouse management, material handling, or any of our other supply chain opportunities, you will be making a meaningful contribution to our team and to patients all over the world.

How you'll make an impact:

Plan materials requirements and place purchase orders from outside suppliers to support production schedules and new product launches, with increased complexity and volumeNegotiate pricing and deliveryWork with suppliers to ensure materials are made to the proper specificationLead cross functional teams to resolve obstacles to meeting the schedule, including, but not limited to, resolving issues with non conforming material, unclear specifications or vendor capacity constraintsAnalyze current Edwards and VMI (Vendor Managed Inventory) levels to determine if VMI release is warranted, and communicate inventory and future requirements to supplierExpedite purchase orders as required. Includes expediting material from the receiving dock though receiving inspection, to production storesAs a member of the Material Review Board (MRB), responsible for supplier related issues, including making recommendations on Quality reviews of rejected materials and determining final dispositions.Manage acquisition of equipment through Capital Procurement Assets (CPA) processEstablish and maintain gross inventory targets with increased complexity and may review work of associates/team members. Includes developing action plans to minimize inventory exposure and for scrapping or mitigating excess and obsolete parts based on business informationEnsure compliance with standard cost for assigned commoditiesDevelop the Manufacturing Production Plan from the Master Production Schedule and/or Project Team requirements with increased complexity and volume and with higher level of autonomyManage issues preventing execution of the MPS and production plan. Issues include but are not limited to non conforming materials or processes, material or equipment availability, completing unplanned requirements from R&DAnalyze resource availability, develop short and mid range capacity plans with manufacturing teams, and lead teams to ensure plans are metGenerate work orders using the Manufacturing Enterprise systemManage work order progress, including working with production and other supporting departments (e.g., quality, microbiology, engineering) to ensure production plans are metOther duties assigned by Leadership


What you'll need (Required):

Bachelor's degree with 5 years of previous related experience required andExperience in purchasing and/or production control required

Planning experienceExperience working in the medical device industry or a regulated industryExperience working in a manufacturing environmentAPICS (American Production and Inventory Control Society) certificationExperience ERP (e.g JDE)Proven expertise in Microsoft Office SuiteExcellent written and verbal communication skills including negotiating and relationship management skills with ability to drive achievement of objectiveExcellent problem-solving and critical thinking skillsFull knowledge and understanding of Edwards policies, procedures and guidelines relevant to purchasing material and/or production controlFull knowledge of material requirements planning (MRP) and inventory management programs (e.g, JIT/Kanban, Min/Max)Full knowledge of market and economic indicators, practices and procurement proceduresStrict attention to detailAbility to manage competing priorities in a fast paced environmentMust be able to work in a team environment, including inter-departmental teams, key contact representing the organization on contracts or projects, and vendors/suppliersAdhere to all company rules and requirements (e.g., pandemic protocols, Environmental Health & Safety rules) and take adequate control measures in preventing injuries to themselves and others as well as to the protection of environment and prevention of pollution under their span of influence/control
