Job Description Summary

The eMachine and Power Electrionics CAE engineer will be responsible for analytical and numerical analysis of automotive electric motors and inverters. The analysis responsibilities include electromagnetic analysis, thermal analysis, mechanical analysis, and multidisciplinary optimization of the devices to ensure that the product meets customer specifications and internal requirements.

Job Description

CAE expert focused on traction motors and power electronics design and development.Lead & coordinate CAE execution of electric machine and power electronics designs for Hybrid & Electric Vehicle programsEstablish state-of-the-art simulation methods and tools to develop efficient, power dense and cost-effective traction motors and power electronicsUse simulation tools to analyze and optimize the traction motor design for electro-magnetic performance given the package, NVH, Thermal and Structural constraintsCreate and maintain ADVP&Rs for multiple programs. Coordinate CAE activities within simulation groups and regions to deliver CAE results and program-level statuses to internal and external customers.Collaborate with the Systems, Controls and Advanced Engineering teams to lead the simulation activities needed for the development of standard platform solutionsContinuous improvement of test-analysis correlation to improve analysis fidelity Document CAE methods and train other analysts in the departmentEnhance CAE procedures and tie them to other engineering and corporate processes working with other PE departmentsAll other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Education

MS in EE with seven years of automotive traction motor and power electronics CAE experience; Ph. D. preferredDemonstrable expertise in the design, development and analysis of automotive traction motors and power electronicsExtensive understanding of the various traction motor and power electronics technologies used in the automotive industryExpertise in using Ansys Maxwell, MotorCAD, Matlab, Simulink, Q3D, Twin-builder (or equivalent) toolsPrepare training material and provide coaching and technical guidance to other analysts in the CAE departmentDeliver 95% ADV FTQ. Recommend efficiency improvement and hardware cost reduction ideas.Communicate analysis results to Managers and Directors; Ensure design meets targets, review and critique analysis results.Excellent organizational skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills
