General Summary: With a focus on maximizing student retention and success, the Senior Career Services Coordinator for Training and Development, under the supervision of the Assistant Director, will design, coordinate, and implement the workshop and outreach efforts for the Office of Career and Professional Development. This role will create unique and engaging materials designed to engage audiences. In addition, this position will serve as a point of contact for WTAMU’s academic colleges and faculty and will do intentional outreach to underserved populations, including our online-only students. This position supervises six student workers who serve as Peer Career Ambassadors, who provide a point of connection between students, faculty, and employers on behalf of each college. The normal work week is 40 hours per week from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Some evening and weekend work is required. Responsibilities: Career Advising/Coaching + Provides career advising to students, prospective students, and alumni in the areas of career planning, resume writing, job search, networking, interviewing skills, salary evaluation, career and employment issues, and professional development. + Plans and assists with Career and Professional Development initiatives and activities, such as job fairs and other special events Workshop, Webinar, Outreach and Classroom Presentation Coordination + Proactively seeks out opportunities for outreach and collaboration with academic/administrative departments and student organizations to promote career and professional development. + Coordinates and maintains schedule of all Career and Professional Development workshops, webinars, and outreach and classroom presentations. + Works with the Career Coordinator to confirm logistics of the events. + Serves as a part of the team to develop, present and facilitate workshops, webinars and other outreach on career-related topics. + Creates engaging content to market Career and Professional Development programs and services to students, faculty and staff. Peer Career Ambassadors (PCAs) + Recruit, hire, train, supervise and evaluate up to six peer career ambassadors (student workers). + PCAs will serve as peer coaches to assist fellow students in resume and cover letter development and other career development opportunities. + PCAs will work as a connection between students, faculty/staff, and local employers Outreach to Under-Served and Online-Only Students + Creates and implements communication plans to promote career development for underserved and online-only students. + Designs innovative ways to deliver services to students who are not utilizing the OC&PD resources, including those students who are earning degrees completely online. + Promotes the use of Career and Professional Development online resources and virtual events. + Must be comfortable in and familiar with a team-centered, cross-trained, collaborative environment. + Assists with organizational and administrative tasks, as requested. + This document represents the major duties, responsibilities, and authorities of this job, and is not intended to be a complete list of all tasks and functions. Necessary Qualifications: + Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience. + Two (2) years of related experience. + Ability to work cooperatively with students, community, business, and Industry leaders, and University personnel required. + Exceptional interpersonal, public speaking, written communication, time management, and decision-making skills. + Outstanding organizational skills, including the ability to coordinate multiple demanding projects. + Excellent computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheet applications. + Knowledge of database applications and adept with video conferencing technologies. + Must be comfortable in and familiar with a team-centered, cross-trained, collaborative environment. + Ability to work under pressure. + Professional demeanor. Preferred Qualifications: + Master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling, or other specialty related to job function. + Demonstrated successful career services training and development. + Experience in a university career or advising center or role. + Educational or teaching experience. + Experience managing people and/or large projects. + Gallup- Certified Strengths Coach + Experience in developing innovative programming and educational engagement opportunities. + Experience using assessment tools, including the MBTI, Strong Interest Inventory, and/or CliftonStrengths assessment.
