The Senior Category Manager, reporting directly into the Category Director, has ultimate accountability for the sales and EBIT of a category across all formats. This includes all functions that impact these financial objectives, including determining product assortment, pricing, promotion, liaising with marketing, conducting financial analyses, reporting, and monitoring store execution.
What you'll do:
Achieve national category P&L and GMROI for assigned category, including inventory turnover.
Contribute to the success of the Category through developing and driving seasonal strategies for category/fine line that meet or exceed the BU’s financial goals.
Develop & present seasonal strategy (commodity blend, sku count, pricing matrix) to meet BU targets.
Communicate in-season sales trends to design partner to impact future design & development.
Understand product trends, historical data and departmental input at category/fine line level in order to manage in-season opportunities or risks.
Partner with visual merchandise team to optimize sales through on-floor delivery presentation.
Develop and implement markdowns and promotions to achieve sales, sell-through and turnover targets.
Lead sku and case pack optimization to achieve brand target.
Understand competitive environment; proactively see market knowledge through exposure to competitors.
Collaborate with the planning team to develop sound category plans.
Lead in-season forecasting initiatives.
Collaboratively plan activities and develop strong relationships with the vendor community in order to improve internal revenue.
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with direct reports, team members of cross-functional teams (Design, Production, Planning, Supply Chain).
Commit and engage team in blue culture behavior leading to increased colleague engagement score

What you bring:
Post-secondary education (university or college) or equivalent experience
Experience managing P&L statements preferred
Proven ability to lead and motivate teams
Proven ability to develop short and long term plans in line with corporate strategies
Excellent communicator up, down and across the enterprise
Ability to gather and synthesize customer and market insight and information in the product identification and development process
