Where is the work:
This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule (3 days onsite per week) based out of Davidson NC.
What you will do:
Lead the steel related spend categories (steel – flat, plate, bar, service centers, paints & coatings, specialty fabricated components – tanks, tubes, wire formed) and associated team members to develop and execute comprehensive category strategies exceeding both short term and long-term targets across the Strategic Business Units (SBU’s) within North America. Responsible for management and development of strategic suppliers and accountable for all commercial negotiations and supplier selections within spend categories. Ensure category strategy alignment with Product Growth Team (PGT) roadmaps and engage with New Product Development (NPD) Procurement teams to support product development efforts. Monitor supplier risk across all responsible spend categories and work collaboratively with SBU’s to develop and implement risk mitigation plans.
Responsibilities:
Regional procurement category leader for the assigned spend categories. Responsible for developing & executing comprehensive category strategies supporting the North American SBU’s within Trane Technologies. Where global category strategies are appropriate, responsible for leading the development in collaboration with peers in other regions.Manage and develop team members to achieve team and SBU goals. Mentor upcoming talent for expanded roles within corporate procurement, SBU procurement, or other functions.Align with global, regional and SBU functional stakeholders to incorporate product and manufacturing strategies into category strategy while gaining cross functional leadership support.Accountable for all commercial negotiations, supplier rationalization and selections within category and ensuring critical spend is under long-term agreement.Monitor supplier risk across all responsible spend categories and work collaboratively with SBU’s to develop and implement risk mitigation plans.Partner with SBU Procurement teams to ensure delivery of productivity - lead team countermeasures aligned to categories and SBU’s.Responsible for building and managing strategic supplier relationships through formal review processes to improve supplier performance metrics including quality, delivery, productivity, and innovation.Partner with strategic suppliers and SQE/SDE to complete detailed capacity analysis - align plant SIOP and forecasting with suppliers to efficiently ensure continuity of supply.Engage with NPD Procurement teams to support NPD and new technology introduction (NTI), through preferred supplier and category strategy deployment.Accountable for managing raw material inflation and tariff, both mitigation and recovery.Aggregate category playbooks across team members and present comprehensive team update during category reviews with SBU leadership.Qualifications:

Supply Chain Acumen – Oversees development and execution of Global integrated supply chain (GISC) strategies/playbooks for assigned components or services, drives utilization of common GISC tools to achieve optimal Trane Technologies results that are Quality, Delivery, Price and Service balanced and corporate/governmental compliant.Project Management – Reviews and approves teams’ project plans, oversees project execution, balances projects between short and long-term focus, secures alignment with cross-functional partners.Global Business Thinking/Strategizing-Demonstrates deep global knowledge of suppliers, industry trends, emerging markets and technology, builds this knowledge into GISC strategies/playbooks, develops global talent.Problem Solving—Identifies/anticipates potential problems, supports root cause analysis, evaluates robustness of corrective action plan and oversees plan implementation.Relationship Management – Creates collaborative environment with cross-functional partners, assures regular/appropriate two-way communication flow, builds/maintains relationship with industry peers and suppliers, and reinforces GISC lead on “one Trane Technologies voice” to the supply base.Haven’t done every single thing in the job description? Compensation:
Salary: $140,000-$185,000. Total compensation will include an incentive.
