The WRPS mission is to safely store, retrieve, and treat 54 million gallons of legacy radioactive and hazardous waste. This complex mission spans all competencies of engineering/science accomplished through a highly integrated organization engineering organization. WRPS was identified as "One of America's Safest Companies" in 2020; and was the recipient of the 2021 "Employer of the Year" by the Association of Washington Businesses. Tank inventories are created through integrating characterization data, process knowledge, and surveillance data to estimate double-shell and single-shell tank waste composition by phase. Data is made available to users via a database and associated suite of tools. Further activities include preparing sampling and analysis plans and data quality objectives for waste sampling and characterization events for the tank farm contractor; integrating with analytical laboratories regarding sample breakdown and analysis; review of analytical data, and interpretation of chemical data for the double and single-shell tanks. The group also coordinates technical and programmatic aspects with multiple internal and external interfacing organizations. The role may also provide support to the Liquid Effluent Retention Facility inventory and waste acceptance criteria. Company priorities may result in assignment of additional/alternate responsibilities or duties. Duties include: * Develop chemical inventories of waste tanks using sample data, process knowledge, and model data. * Create spreadsheets and supporting documents. * Write sample and analysis plans for tank waste, environmental, and multi-media samples. * Provide support for data uploads, review and comparison of analytical data, and addition of new/revised data. * Prepare and administer sampling program requirements via Quality Assurance documents, procedures, and assessments. * Review and reconcile characterization data. * Preparation of reports, spreadsheets, or other work products includes satisfactory disposition and resolution of comments submitted by others. * Develop clear, concise, and error-free engineering documents. * Review and complete corrective actions. * Obtain and maintain Engineering Technical Staff and Process Engineering Qualification cards. Required Qualifications Grade 18: Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Chemical Engineering or related engineering discipline; and seven (7) years of related experience Grade 19: Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Chemical Engineering or related engineering discipline; and Nine (9) years of related experience Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is larger, and the expected level of performance is increased. Grade 20: Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Chemical Engineering or related engineering discipline; and Ten (10) years of related experience Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is significantly larger, and the expected level of performance is greatly increased. Desired Qualifications Previous Hanford experience. Previous inventory and characterization experience, sampling, laboratory, and data analysis. Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills with outstanding attention to detail. Must be able to effectively communicate technical information to programmatic and regulatory personnel. Requires the ability to effectively perform in multi-discipline cross-functional teams that define RPP mission objectives. Compensation & Benefits In accordance with the company's philosophy on compensation for exempt and salaried non-exempt employees, WRPS takes into consideration a variety of factors when determining initial salary to include assigned job scope and responsibility, a candidate's qualifications as compared to internal comparators performing in a similar role, and the external labor market. A salary offer will be made within the targeted hiring range posted. Note a candidate's prior salary history will not be taken into consideration.
