Job Description

U.S. Bank is seeking a highly motivated Senior Chief Engineer who will spearhead a technical team driving innovation and excellence within our organization, with a keen focus on Storage & Data Protection and Virtual Infrastructure. Will provide a combination of technical and business leadership while being the primary trusted and capable owner of one or more high priority, high visibility, complex focused initiatives that typically cross multiple technology and business line areas. Will have some direct reports (e.g., an architect, systems analyst, etc.) and provide guidance to a larger community including affected systems, program management, and test leadership.

Responsibilities include:

Oversee strategy and drive technological advancements for Virtualization, SAN, NAS, and Backup technology to simplify management, lower costs, and improve reliability and performance.Govern program technology and engineering dimensions, advising on solution definition, planning, and high-level design.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technology initiatives with business goals and act as an interface with Technology, Business Line, and Vendor subject matter experts for solution design and delivery, providing counsel during ideation stages.Lead and co-develop the platform strategy with technology-specific Chief Engineers for SAN, NAS, Hypervisor, and Backups.Partner with Cloud hosting and development pipeline teams to integrate, where feasible, to create a common experience and ease portability.Proactively communicate issues, risks, mitigations, and other status to senior leadership and serve as the primary escalation point for project issues.Champion refresh activities and adherence to bank standards and methods using learnings from program delivery, SMEs, and industry best practices.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in business, MIS, engineering, computer science, mathematics, any science, or equivalent work experience10 or more years of experience in developing and implementing strategies in Storage & Data Protection and Virtual Infrastructure

Required Technical Skills/Experience

Expertise in hybrid cloud and private cloud environments.Deep understanding of Virtualization, SAN, NAS, and Backup technologies.Experience working with VMware, Hyper-V, Nutanix, PowerMax, DataDomain, Pure, Cohesity, Netapp, Kubernetes, Azure, AWS

Preferred Skills/Experience

Strong leadership skillset, ability to inspire a team of highly skilled engineers.Proven experience in leading teams and managing technology projects.Strong background in strategy development, architectural design, and capacity planning.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.Extensive knowledge of delivery processes such as planning, development, project management, migration, testing, architecture, security, vendor management, risk, and system performance management.Advanced technical understanding of multiple solutions and methods.Well-developed leadership abilities and strategic management skills.

Location Expectations

The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $149,515.00 - $175,900.00 - $193,490.00
