ABOUT THE POSITION

Senior Civil Design Engineer / Project Manager – Land Development | Hybrid | VT

 

VHB’s growing VT offices are seeking an experienced Senior Site/Civil Engineer/Project Manager to join our Land Development group. The successful candidate will work with our team of professionals to manage all aspects of site/civil engineering for public and private sites for our diverse portfolio of ski resort, real estate, energy, infill development, and state and municipal infrastructure and stormwater projects.

 

Responsibilities

Work independently with integrated teams of engineers, environmental scientists, and landscape architects in developing site/civil engineering plans and specifications for a multitude and public and private projects with a focus on sustainability and resiliencyLead and assist with civil engineering for retail, residential, institutional, renewable energy and industrial site design including grading and drainage design, utility design, and site layoutPreparation and/or reviewing of design criteria, drawings and specificationsPreparation of schematic design, design development, and construction contract documentationLead the preparation of permitting, design and construction documentsProject task financial performance, and management of small or medium projectsAttend meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to establish their needs and discuss design/permitting issuesTechnical and design report writing

Skills and Abilities

Excellent verbal, written, organizational, and interpersonal communication skillsTeam oriented with ability to perform multiple tasks independently in a timely manner and collaborate effectively and positively with other emerging professionals and managersAbility to work in a fast-paced office, virtual, and field environment, in rural or urban environmentsProven strong work-ethic and self-motivated to produce high quality outcomesHighly organized, and detail oriented, with ability think creatively and formulate solutions in team environmentKnowledge of local and state regulations governing site design

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field of study requiredMaster’s degree a plus (may substitute for 1 year of experience)8-11 years of professional site/civil design engineering experience, including consulting/private sector experience, required11-15 years of civil engineering experience preferredProficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and HydroCAD required, GIS experience a plusPE (Professional Engineer) license requiredSolid understanding of the typical land entitlement process in VT including permitting at the local and state level preferred
