Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated Senior Civil Engineer supporting the Civil Site Development Team in Pittsburgh.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage civil engineering projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards. Oversee the design and analysis of site development projects, including grading, drainage, utilities, roadways, and stormwater management systems. Ensure all projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including obtaining necessary permits and approvals. Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, planners, and other engineers, to integrate civil engineering solutions into overall project designs. Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure accuracy and reliability of engineering designs and documentation. Mentor and guide junior engineers and technical staff, providing support and fostering professional development. Identify and pursue new business opportunities, prepare proposals, and contribute to the growth of the firm's civil engineering practice. Provide technical support during construction, including site visits, inspections, and addressing any issues that arise. Stay updated with industry trends, technologies, and best practices, and apply innovative solutions to improve project outcomes. May need to travel to site and other offices when necessary.
What you bring to the role:
Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized and accredited engineering university 10+ years of relevant industry experience. Registered as a PE in Pennsylvania preferred, or the ability to obtain it within 6 months. Thorough understanding of the design process including the application of civil design software packages. Previous design experience in bulk earthworks, site grading, storm drainage, access and haul roads and earth structures for large size projects. Ability to deal with competing priorities and manage time appropriately. Dedicated team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills, self-motivated, quick to deliver and a team player. Ability to work independently. Must be a leader and able to guide and lead a team of engineers and designers to deliver high quality work. Good communication skills are most desirable. The candidate will have to coordinate and communicate with multi-discipline teams and clients as well as team working under his/her supervisions.
