ABOUT THE POSITION

Senior Civil Engineer /Project Manager – Energy | Albany, New York or Vermont | Hybrid

 

VHB is looking for a Senior Civil Engineer/Project Manager to work within our growing Renewable Energy Market practice with a focus on all phases of renewables development, including solar, EV charging, and battery storage facilities. Successful candidates will have strong leadership skills and a solid technical background in design, permitting, siting and evaluating civil engineering projects in New York state.

Responsibilities

Lead development of site civil plans and specifications for a multitude of renewable energy infrastructure projects with a focus on sustainability and resiliencyWork within an integrated team of civil, water resource, and electrical engineers, ecologists, regulatory specialists, surveyors, transportation designers, project managers, attorneys, and landscape architects Lead and assist with civil engineering site design plans (i.e. grading and drainage design, utility design, and site layout)Preparation and/or reviewing of design criteria, drawings and specificationsLead the preparation of siting and other site civil-related permitting materialsProject task financial performance, and management of small or medium projectsAttend meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to establish their needs and discuss design/permitting issuesConstruction stormwater monitoring support Technical and design report writing

Skills & Abilities

Excellent verbal, written, organizational, and interpersonal communication skillsTeam oriented with ability to perform multiple tasks independently in a timely manner and collaborate effectively and positively with other emerging professionals and managersAbility to work in a fast-paced office, virtual, and field environment, in rural or urban environmentsProven strong work-ethic and self-motivated to produce high quality outcomesHighly organized, and detail oriented, with ability think creatively and formulate solutions in team environmentKnowledge of local and state regulations governing site designKnowledge of typical land entitlement process, including permitting at the local and state level Knowledge and applied skills with industry standard software (i.e. AutoCAD Civil 3D and HydroCAD)

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field of study requiredMaster's degree a plus (may substitute for 1 year of experience)8-11 years of civil engineering experience required11-15 years of civil engineering experience preferredPE (Professional Engineer) license requiredExperience with NY permitting required, NY energy permitting a plus

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in Albany, NY is $100,000-$150,000. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience.
