Great American’s Aviation Division specializes in placing private and commercial hull and liability, industrial aid, manufacturers' product liability, drones, and excess aircraft liability across a wide array of aviation-related risks. Our underwriters are experts in analyzing, pricing, and tailoring unique insurance coverage on an admitted basis. Our claims team has extensive experience and knowledge in the aviation industry, which allows them to handle complex claims effectively.

The Aviation Division of Great American Insurance Group is seeking an experienced Claims Professional with management experience to serve as “Senior Claims Manager”.  The ideal candidate should have 10-20 years of aviation claims adjusting experience in General Aviation and strong working knowledge of complex aviation insurance coverages. This will be a fully remote role.

Essential Job Functions and ResponsibilitiesSupervising a small team of other Claims Professionals as well as directly handling their own “portfolio” of first party physical damage claims and third-party liability claims which will include investigating, verifying coverage, evaluating liability/damages/exposure, negotiating settlements and/or defending all claims as warrantedWorks toward the resolution of claims files, complaints and disputes and attends arbitrations, mediations, depositions, or trials as necessary.May affect settlements/reserves within prescribed limits and submit recommendations to supervisor on cases exceeding personal authority.Ensures that claims payments are issued in a timely and accurate manner.Actively maintain good file tempo which will include thoroughly documenting the claims files with comprehensive evaluations, notes, action items and diaries Advises reporting staff on claim files and extends settlement authority as necessary after reviewing files.Maintaining communication between Insured, Broker and ClaimantMay establish reserves and make recommendations or reports for Corporate Claims or senior management.Responsible for performance and coaching of staff and decisions regarding talent selection, development, and performance management.  Ensures new members of the team receive proper training.Drafting Denials and/or Reservation of Rights LettersSupervising outside defense counsel on claims in litigationProactively participate in Mediation and/or TrialsPerforms other duties as assigned.

Job RequirementsEducation: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.Field of Study: Liberal Arts, Business or a related discipline.Experience: Generally, 10 to 20 years of related experience, including 5 to 10 years of leadership experience.Must have or be able to obtain an Insurance Adjuster License in Texas or home state (Additional State Licenses are a Plus)Attorney with Aviation Experience preferred but non-attorneys are encouraged to applyShould have knowledge of Aviation and Insurance (Pilot or Mechanic License Preferred)Experience with claim system software and strong computer skillsExcellent written and oral communication skills
