Senior Classification Analyst
Summary\r

Assists in the development, maintenance, and implementation of technical and security related classification policies directed by the Department of Energy Office of Classification (DOE OC). Advises and educates personnel in the application of Classification guidance relevant to the Kansas City National Security Campus mission. Responsible for the coordination of classification policies and guidance with the KCNSC Classification Officer, DOE OC, and other Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE) entities.

Duties and Responsibilities\rWorks extensively with engineers, scientists, and program management on technical related topics and their relation to DOE Classification GuidanceApplies engineering/scientific technical knowledge base to apply classification guidance and make derivative classification determinations related to manufacturing and production activitiesDemonstrates ability to interpret technical manufacturing related documents such as fabrication drawings, schematics, and othersInterprets DOE Orders, makes recommendations to management and/or implements security policies and procedures to ensure compliance by all subcontractor and associatesAssist the CO in making classification and Unclassified Controlled Nuclear Information (UCNI) determinations in accordance with existing DOE classification policies and proceduresThe Classification Analyst provides expert analysis in the development and interpretation of local classification and Sensitive Unclassified Information guidance.Initiates classification and declassification reviews for documents originated within the companyApplies engineering related principles and concepts to assure that reports, press releases, publications, scientific papers, journal articles, etc., concerning potentially classified subject areas are reviewed for classified and sensitive informationMay deliver periodic lectures, training, and briefings to keep KCNSC derivative classifiers apprised of current policies, policy revisions, and classification guidanceSupports CO with audits classification procedures to determine effectiveness of classification programAides CO in reviewing classification policies for conformance with DOE and design agency classification policiesReviews and authorizes downgrading and declassification of site-generated documents and material, as a DOE-authorized derivative declassifierIn the absence of the CO may assume a lead role on teams involving classification issues and is a knowledgeable resource for KCNSC management for classification issues and concernsRepresents the KCNSC Classification Office at meetings, both internal and offsite, in the absence of the Classification OfficerConducts activities in a safe and healthy manner and works in accordance with established HS&E requirements to ensure the protection of associates, the public, and the environmentTakes actions necessary to stop work when an unsafe condition or action is identified. Every associate has the right and responsibility to stop work when unsafe conditions or actions are identifiedYou Must Have\rBachelors Degree in technical related field or 5+ years equivalent work experienceMust be able to obtain DOE HQ certification as a Classification Analyst and Derivative DeclassifierWe Value\rMust possess communication skills in one-on-one situations and group settings.Must be able to document information and data clearly and conciselyAbility to provide technical guidance, project management, consultative services, and innovative solutionsCurrent derivative classification certification valued
