PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Serves as a lead worker to Clinic Staff Assistants to ensure clinic clerical support function operates efficiently. Provides communication and clerical support to patients and clinical staff to facilitate the effective operation of outpatient clinics and ensure that Parkland's financial viability is secured at the most basic level.
MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS
Education:
- None.
Experience:
- Must have five years of medical office or clerical experience.
- Must have experience in a healthcare setting.
- Prefer patient registration experience.
Equivalent Education and/or Experience:
- May have an equivalent combination of education and experience to substitute for both the education and the experience requirements.
Certification/Registration/Licensure:
- Prefer to have a current Heartsaver CPR course completion card within 90 days of hire and/or placement in job from one of the following:
American Heart Association American Red Cross Military Training Network.
Skills or Special Abilities:
- Must be familiar with diagnostic coding and procedure codes.
- Must demonstrate ability to type 20 WPM with a maximum of 3 errors.
- Must be able to successfully pass a Spelling Test with a minimum score of 85% and Customer Service test, Basic Computer Skills test and Basic Math test with a minimum score of 80%.
- Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of standard office equipment.
- Must have basic knowledge of medical software.
- Must demonstrate a positive demeanor, good verbal and written communication skills, and be professional in both appearance and approach.
- Must be detail oriented and have sharp analytical skills to resolve registration issues as they relate to multiple groups including third party payors, physicians, patients and the System.
- Must be able to handle potentially stressful situations and multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Must be able to solve problems within the guidelines of established policies and procedures.
- Bilingual skills preferred.
- Basic medical terminology knowledge preferred.
