The purpose of this position is to support the Brenden-Colson Center for Pancreatic Care in contributing to its research studies and repository of biological specimens and data, by consenting patients, collecting tissue and blood samples in collaboration with OHSU clinics, ensuring implementation of our Early Detection clinical research study protocols. This person is also responsible for the safe storage and accurate recording of the samples collected, and for IRB submissions and regulatory documentation. You will have the opportunity to interact with several different OHSU clinics, physicians and researchers and will be part of a dedicated translational research team aiming to make a real difference for cancer patients and early detection of pancreas disease. Responsibilities will include picking up human specimens in the clinic, chart review, clinic schedule monitoring, data entry, informing potential patients about pancreas research studies, consenting and enrolling appropriate patients, and querying databases of participants in multiple studies. Employee will also participate in community events as needed to help recruit study subjects. Professional and caring demeanor and appropriate attire is required for patient and provider interactions. Function/Duties of Position Chart review, clinical schedule review to identify participants for pancreatic cancer early detection clinical studies high-risk surveillance clinics/registries, and multi-institutional collaborative projects.Schedule and consent patients for multiple studies participation and for research procedures; Collect human specimens from surgery and clinics who are treating pancreas disease patients or control subjects.Perform data entry and database maintenance; monitor IRB compliance and maintain IRB protocol approval.Coordinate with research PIs and other clinical coordinator staff to optimize study participant recruitment among several complex studies. Cover for other coordinators as needed during leaves. Train new and/or junior coordinators for related BCCPC project work. Customer service: Provide highest level of customer service to both external customers (patients and their families, referring providers, sponsors, etc.) and internal customers (OHSU health providers and staff) that meets or exceeds the service standards of the health care industry. This duty includes prompt, regular, and professional communication; attending required meetings and appointments; face-to-face customer contact skills; familiarity with or ability to learn available information technology; flexible coverage of internal service needs; and the continuous application of process and skills improvement.
