Position Overview
Adaptive Biotechnologies is on a mission to transform the diagnosis and treatment of immune-mediated diseases including cancer, autoimmune disorders and infectious disease through ground-breaking applications of DNA sequencing. A profound reduction in the cost of sequencing (moving faster than Moore's law in the past several years) has enabled the company to develop brand new approaches to measuring the most variable part of the human genome: the immune cell receptor genes.
Among other initiatives, we are developing a new clinical diagnostic product that uses proprietary immune cell receptor sequencing technology to measure the disease state of cancer patients in unprecedented detail.
Additionally, we have recently partnered with Microsoft in a multi-year collaboration involving Adaptive’s scientists and software engineers working closely with top Artificial Intelligence researchers in an effort to combine Adaptive’s innovative sequencing technology and Microsoft’s large-scale machine learning and cloud computing capabilities. This partnership aims to eventually lead to a universal map of the human immune system and the antigens the immune system fights; a map that will be key for the research and development of simple blood-based diagnostics that are broadly accessible to people around the world.
We are currently expanding our footprint into the Microsoft Azure cloud computing platform. This includes new technologies as well as migration of current production and development resources out of other cloud services into Azure. We are looking for an additional Senior Cloud Engineer to join our current team to help design and build a robust and scalable cloud infrastructure. Components include our bioinformatics infrastructure, customer facing front-ends, databases and associated security infrastructure. We currently enjoy the luxury of making design decisions without worrying about on-premise resources or other traditional considerations. We aim to make use of automation whenever possible (via Ansible), to achieve a level of efficiency and productivity beyond what traditional IT approaches enable. By working with us, you can have a direct and meaningful impact on the lives of many people facing decisions about their treatment, by putting cloud-based computer resources to good use.
