The Opportunity

As the Senior Cloud Engineer, you will have the opportunity to

 

Be responsible for the Cloud lifecycle management planning, design, oversight, automation, and optimization Collaborate extensively with business and IT professionals, and with the Infrastructure, Applications, and Information Security teams, and with third-party vendors and contractors Focus heavily on the strategic and architectural design of cloud solutions with a focus and demonstrated experience in AWS and Azure, and with strength in writing Terraform for cloud automation Be a recognized communicator, subject matter expert, thought leader, champion for technology adoption and compliance, and a passionate empathizer for client needs The Team

Black & Veatch’s Business Enablement consists of critical groups that help enable the organizations people, projects, and businesses to be as successful as possible.   Functions in this group include Digital & Information Technology, Global Finance, Global Human Resources, Legal, Risk Management, and Government Affairs and Real Estate and Building Services. 

Key Responsibilities Maintains contact and builds relationships with the operating businesses, IT management, IT vendors and technical architects to ensure availability, security, and satisfaction.  Assists in identifying new and improved approaches, technologies, tools, templates, and business use cases.  Assesses cloud environments for areas like capacity, connectivity, performance, and resiliency.  Designs, codes, tests and implements Terraform cloud automations/deployments  Reviews/Approves/Represents Change Tickets in the Cloud Infrastructure Area  Leads Break-Fix situations with multiple team members including managed service provider partners  Maintains broad-based technical and solutions knowledge in key infrastructure optimization and solution areas including:   Multi-Cloud Expertise with an AWS and Azure focus and working understanding of GCP and OCI  Cloud Multi-tenant Administration  Azure Virtual Desktop   Cloud Data Protection/Backup technologies and methodologies including recovery processes  Management Responsibilities Acts in capacity of a "lead person." Does not have management responsibility for the people to whom they provide work direction.Preferred Qualifications

Technical Skills 

Cloud Engineer – AWS and Azure required; GCP & OCI preferred.  Monitoring Tools such as Azure Operations Management Suite (OMS)  Experience with network architectures  Experience with Vulnerability Response/Remediation  Scripting/Coding and automation using such tools as Terraform, PowerShell, Python, Ansible, etc. 

Business Skills 

Experience in leading the delivery of assessments, development of business cases, and solution architecture.   Experience with multi-phased, complex migration programs that address technology, people / organization, and process change.  Strong written skills – able to create concise and structured recommendations for total solutions as well as simplifying systems architectures.  Dynamic and engaging presentation style that commands respect, inspires confidence, earns trust, and makes the complex easy to understand.  Strong business engagement and customer relationship management.  Demonstrated proficiency with technical architecture, practical adaptation and implementation, functional deployment, and business ROI focused areas of enterprise infrastructure solutions.  Financial fluency which includes working with ROI, cost analysis, and financial statements.  Strong command of English  BS and/or MS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience  5+ years’ experience (unless otherwise noted) in the following areas:  Cloud Engineer – AWS & Azure required; GCP & OCI exposure.  Demonstrated experience with SSO and Identity Federation services (Entra, B2B/B2C)  ITIL environment of formal Change processes, Systems Development Lifecycle processes and of production of requirements documentation and evidence (ServiceNow experience a plus)  2+ years of Scripting with Terraform  Minimum Qualifications
