Senior CMM Programmer

The Senior CMM Programmer is responsible for creating, editing and running coordinate measurement machine (CMM) programs to facilitate the parts inspection process for our internal customers. This position also reviews all requests for parts to be measured on the CMM and assigns them to appropriate CMM programmers and operators as required. Other responsibilities include training and mentoring new CMM operators, CMM programmers and Inspectors as determined by their manager. Additionally, this role drives data collection, reporting and analysis and reviews data collected by others when requested.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Inspect samplesLead Advanced Gauge R&R studiesLead employee quality training programs and communicationsTrain and mentor lab personnel on advanced programming techniques for the CMMInspect samples per documented specifications and record inspection resultsProgram and operate motorized bridge and portable CMMs (Romer Arm, Faro Arm, etc)Develop inspection procedures to measure engineering requirementsCoordinate the flow of inspection samples based on priorityAnalyze data to determine trends in inspection historyPerform inspections using mechanical gauging as requiredAddressing Non-Conformance Identify and contain nonconforming materialCreate and communicate Nonconforming Material ReportsIdentify complex Corrective Action OpportunitiesIdentify and communicate Engineering Change Request (ECR) opportunitiesIdentify appropriate gauging needed to measure engineering drawing requirementsVisually identify inspection sample statusAssist in cost reduction opportunities and design change suggestionsSupport department initiativesInvestigate, document and resolve issues related to the CMMIdentify quality improvements, cost reduction opportunities, and design change suggestionsSupport cross functional team projects

Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent (GED)5 years of experience operating and independently creating CMM programs and utilizing mechanical gaging5 years of experience working with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing

Preferred Qualifications:

PC-DMIS software experienceASQ Quality CertificationBachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong analytical skillsEffective verbal and written communication skillsAbility to train others and modify training to accommodate learning preferencesDemonstrated ability to interpret drawing specificationsDemonstrated ability to interpret GD&T principlesExperience with Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)Ability to use Microsoft Office SuiteDemonstrated problem solving skills
