Our work depends on a Mainframe COBOL Developer joining our team to analyze design, develop, implement, and support code for our government customer, the United States Postal Service.

In this role, a typical day will include:
Analyzes and evaluates existing or proposed systems and designs computer systems to process dataAnalyzes systems and procedures to refine their formulation and converts them to programmable formatsWrites or updates software specificationsCreates logical data models based on functional requirementsPerforms quality assurance review of specifications for internal and external deliveryTroubleshoots and provides technical support and solutions to usersDevelops analytical tools for use in the design and redesign of systemsAnalyzes detail systems factors, including input and output requirements, information flow, hardware and software requirements, and reliability characteristicsPrepares and updates documentation for new or existing systemsMonitors system effectiveness in satisfying user needsMay provide guidance and work leadership to less-experienced analysts.Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assignedParticipates in special projects as requiredWHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in a Computer Science or related technical discipline; OR the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.Required Experience:
10+ years of experience with Application DevelopmentRequired Skills & Abilities:
Developer of COBOL, VSAM, JCL, TSO/ISPF, XPEDITER, FileAid, ChangeMan, CICS, HostBridgeKnowledge of Payroll processingFamiliarity with Agile/Scrum processes and management tools such as VersionOneKnowledge of and experience in an IT Service management System (preferably ServiceNow) and ITIL processesProficient in Agile/Scrum methodologiesProficient knowledge and experience of SDLC practicesDemonstrated knowledge in Change Management and Configuration ManagementSecurity Clearance Level:
Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance and successfully pass a thorough Government background screening process requiring the completion of detailed forms and fingerprintingThis position has a U.S. residency requirement. The USPS security clearance process requires the selected candidate to have resided in the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for the last five years as follows: U.S. Citizens cannot have left the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for longer than 6 months consecutively in the last 3 years (unless they meet certain exceptions). Non-U.S. Citizens cannot have left the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for longer than 90 days consecutively in the last 3 years.Location:
