Our client is an established main contractor working across Europe specialising in the delivery of construction and engineering projects on behalf of global blue-chip clients. They offer a full turnkey service for their clients from design, construction, and handover across the full range of CSA (civil, structural, architectural), MEP (mechanical and electrical) and commissioning works.
Due to continued growth, the need now exists for an experienced Senior Commercial Lead to manage the commercial and contractual aspects of a €500 million data centre fit-out project. As a Senior Commercial Lead with extensive experience in cost management, procurement, contract negotiation, and risk mitigation, you will play a key role in maximising project profitability while ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and financial controls.
Key Responsibilities & Requirements:Manage, and control project budgets, provide regular financial forecasts, and maintain cost reporting systems to track and control financial performance.
Lead the negotiation, review, and management of contracts with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors ensuring that all contractual obligations are met, and that the company’s commercial interests are protected.
Prepare, negotiate, and agree on change orders and variations to contracts, ensuring proper documentation and approval processes.
Oversee the procurement process for key project materials and services, ensuring alignment with project requirements and budget constraints.
Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial risks associated with the project and provide input into project risk registers, ensuring commercial risks are tracked and managed.
Provide detailed financial reports to senior management, including cash flow forecasts, cost-to-complete estimates, and profit/loss projections.
Present financial data to clients and stakeholders, ensuring they are informed of the project’s financial status and any potential financial issues.
Serve as the primary point of contact for commercial discussions and negotiations with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Oversee the management of project changes, ensuring that all cost impacts are identified and communicated to stakeholders.
Ensure that all commercial close-out activities are completed, including final account settlements, financial reconciliation, and contractual obligations.
Degree in Commercial Management/Quantity Surveying or equivalent level of qualifications.
7+ years' experience in Commercial Management roles preferably within data centre, MEP, and CSA construction projects.
Extensive experience in reporting and analysing commercial data for tier 1 contractors is beneficial.
Strong knowledge of construction contracts with excellent financial management, budgeting, and cost control skills.
In-depth understanding of procurement processes and supply chain management.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
Effective communication skills.
