For more information, visit SolomonEdwards Position Summary: The Senior Commercial Lending Risk and Credit Analyst plays a key role in assessing the creditworthiness of potential clients for projects involving unsecured debt. This role focuses on client pre-screening and risk assessment to identify low-quality prospects before they advance to the Hard Underwriting phase, conducted by a third-party firm. The ideal candidate will have experience in commercial lending, credit analysis, loan operations, and project management. This position requires strong analytical skills, an understanding of risk assessment, and the ability to interpret both qualitative and quantitative data to support responsible business growth. This is a hybrid role requiring to be onsite in Philadelphia, PA, three days per week. Essential Duties: • Conduct commercial client lending analysis to screen potential clients before they move to Underwriting. • Assess business viability using structured Q&A processes and public data sources (e.g., D&B, BBB, industry market research). • Perform desktop research on economic, environmental, and geopolitical factors that could impact client risk. • Utilize Excel templates to compile and analyze data from sales partners. • Gather and assess qualitative and quantitative prospect information while balancing due diligence with efficiency. • Evaluate contractual obligations and unsecured debt to determine risk exposure. • Collaborate with internal teams to refine underwriting criteria and risk assessment strategies. • Provide risk insights that help guide business decisions, focusing on responsible growth rather than a rigid compliance-based approach. • Support process improvements in underwriting and loan servicing operations. Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, economics, or a related field (preferred). • Experience in commercial lending, credit analysis, underwriting, or loan operations. • Knowledge of contractual obligations and unsecured debt structures. • Strong research skills, including the ability to analyze D&B, BBB reports, and industry trends. • Ability to work independently while collaborating with internal stakeholders. • Project management experience is preferred, particularly in financial services or underwriting. Skills and Job-Specific Competencies: • Strong financial data analysis and risk assessment capabilities. • Proficiency in Excel, with experience working with financial models and data analysis tools. Salary Range: SolomonEdwards values your unique and individual experience and background. As such, we take a comprehensive approach when determining compensation for our roles. The compensation for this specific role is based on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to education, licensure and certifications, location, experience, and training.
