Avondale Global Gateway is a 275-acre former shipyard on Mile 108 of the Mississippi River, redeveloped into a multimodal logistics terminal with significant warehousing and storage capabilities. T. Parker Host acquired Avondale in 2018 from Huntington Ingalls Industries and has since reestablished its iconic prominence into a model of ingenuity. Avondale Global Gateway is a historic property with four docks and over one mile of waterfront, uniquely accommodating ships, barges, rail and trucks. This facility offers immediate access to the regional and interstate highway system and is positioned at the interchange of six Class I railroads, creating the ability for cargo to be distributed in all directions.
Avondale Global Gateway has become integral to HOST’s continued efforts of shifting the transportation paradigm and rethinking how cargo moves – providing exceptional service and solutions to our customers.
Position Summary: This role is responsible for increasing revenue by pursuing, developing, and maintaining relationships with prospects and customers. Duties will include identifying prospective customers, identifying, and following up on potential sales leads, and maintaining relationships with existing customers. The successful individual may also recommend marketing strategies designed for a target market such as warehousing, container stuffing & stripping, project cargoes etc. This position is based at Avondale Global Gateway in Avondale, Louisiana and reports to the Commercial Vice President, Host Terminals, LLC.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
· Identify and establish contact with potential new customers
· Schedule visits and calls with potential customers
· Attend industry trade shows and conferences to identify potential sales leads and make contact with existing customers and prospects
· Attend local and Greater New Orleans maritime industry events to represent AGG and to develop a detailed understanding of the maritime activities in the region
· Follow industry trends to identify new opportunities for potential sales
· Develop commercial opportunities: Identify the sales lead, establish contact with the prospect, define the opportunity, manage the internal sales process (market analysis, cost modeling, proposal, approvals), manage the external process (proposal, negotiations, contract) to sales closure and increased revenue
· Define and close sales opportunities both within AGG commercial strategies and on a spot basis
· Data research to identify trends and opportunities
· Conduct appropriate due diligence to validate leads and opportunities
· Determine transportation and market rates utilizing competitive analysis and market intelligence
· Work with analysts assigned to opportunities
· Draft term sheet offers/proposals
· Negotiation of terms & conditions with customers
· Build and maintain relationships with current and prospective customers to grow revenue
Education, Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities Required:
· Minimum five years of sales experience in logistics, warehousing and storage, trucking or maritime related industries
· Undergraduate degree in business, or relevant discipline
· Proven experience executing a successful sales process/strategy
· Proven track record of achievement, meeting and exceeding sales targets and metrics
· Innovative self-starter, with the ability to devise solutions to complex problems, and to implement those solutions hands-on
· Flexibility, and the ability to thrive and multi-task in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial culture; comfortable operating in a limited-resource environment, with a high degree of autonomy
· Self-motivated with strong organizational and communication skills, excellent interpersonal, presentation and negotiation skills
· Must be willing and able to travel (domestic and international)
