Senior Commercial Manager

The opportunity

The Senior Commercial Manager will be based out of our Perth office is responsible for managing the commercial delivery of construction (greenfield and brownfield), maintenance and shutdown contracts, ensuring effective contract administration, risk management, financial control, and client engagement within their assigned operational unit. Reporting to the Commercial Director, this role acts as a critical link between the strategic direction set by the Commercial Director and the day-to-day commercial activities carried out by the wider commercial team.

What you’ll do

You will display thought leadership and will lead the commercial team for the operational unit, ensuring they operate effectively, comply with internal processes and procedures, meet financial targets and adhere to contract terms. You will play a key role in resolving complex issues, driving continuous improvement, and supporting the Commercial Director in achieving broader business objectives.

Ensure effective contract administration, compliance, and financial control across all contracts within their assigned operational unit. Support the operational unit deliver profitable outcomes by ensuring effective financial controls are in place. Ensure commercial teams effectively manage and recover variations, changes, and claims. Identify and mitigate commercial risks while maximizing opportunities for value enhancement. Provide leadership, mentorship, and development support to the commercial team. Build strong client relationships and ensure alignment between commercial goals and client expectations. Ensure commercial performance is tracked, measured, and reported accurately.

What we’re looking for

Bachelor’s degree in business, Law, Quantity Surveying, Commerce, Engineering or a related field. Minimum 8+ years of experience in commercial roles with some experience in managing a team. Chartered Quantity Surveyor (CQS), RICS, or equivalent certifications (preferred). Experience with ERP systems (e.g., JDEGS, Oracle) and contract management tools. Strong understanding of contract law, construction contracts, and commercial best practices. Proven experience managing complex contracts, claims, and disputes in a maintenance, shutdown, or construction environment. Strong financial acumen and a good understanding of cost forecasting, cash flow management, and budgeting.
