Job Summary
Responsible for providing strategic communications support focused on educating and engaging both internal and external audiences for a rapidly growing organization. Focus areas include HR communications, community giving, mergers and acquisitions, integration communications, and public relations (PR).
Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities
Executes and maintains companywide campaigns and processes, including providing support for companywide events. Examples include but are not limited to, organizational announcements, town hall presentations, weekly newsletters and quarterly leadership messages.
Partners with internal stakeholders and business leaders to translate strategic goals into the development and execution of communications plans for internal audiences.
Executes M&A, integration and other critical change management initiatives, developing thoughtful communications plans to support a growing business.
Supports the maintenance the company’s external PR presence by drafting and publishing press releases and newsroom articles and managing coverage tracking and reporting.
Manages a variety of administrative activities such as the timing and distribution of communication channels, the tracking of community giving efforts and initiatives, and the maintenance of internal and external company resources and documentation.
Provides support in researching, proofreading, editing and ensuring the highest levels of quality across all communication.
Fosters strong relationships with key internal stakeholders to ensure effective communication before, during, and after key launches and campaigns, supporting teammate’s feelings of engagement, pride and value within the organization.
Monitors trends in the corporate communications and PR space to support continuous improvement.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.
Nature and Scope
Identifies key barriers/core problems and applies problem solving skills in order to deal creatively with complex situations. Troubleshoots and resolves complex problems. Makes decisions under conditions of uncertainty, sometimes with incomplete information, that produce effective end results.
Independently performs assignments with instruction limited to the expected results. Determines and develops an approach to solutions. Receives technical guidance only on unusual or complex problems or issues.
May oversee the completion of projects and assignments, including planning, assigning, monitoring and reviewing progress and accuracy of work, evaluating results, etc. Contributes to employees' professional development but does not have hiring or firing authority.
Work Environment
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Education and Experience
Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 5-8 years of experience in a related field OR MS/MA and generally 3-5 years of experience in a related field. Certification is required in some areas.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field.
At least five years’ experience in a corporate communications environment.
Understanding of corporate communication at a large-scale organization (5,000+ employees).
Outstanding writing and editing skills for different formats, including but not limited to email announcements, press releases, and video scripts.
HR and/or M&A communications experience is not required but preferred.
Strong collaborator who enjoys working with a cohesive team.
Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. Understands nuance and knows how to navigate consistent change within a large organization.
Ability to shift quickly between strategy and execution and enjoys working cross-functionally.
