The Human Dimension and Community Programs team is seeking a **Senior** **Community** **Engagement** **Specialist** to join our dynamic, interdisciplinary team whose purpose is to strengthen the School of Medicine’s collaboration with community partners in order to work towards improving health equity, while providing experiential community experiences that shape our future physicians’ ability to integrate all the determinants of health into their clinical practice.
A passion to serve and collaborate with underserved communities is critical to this role. Being a visible representative of the School in the community, this role requires excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with both community organizations and individual community members. Important for success in this role is being able to balance being in the field with administrative duties and strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Bilingual Spanish speaking candidates are highly preferred.
**Responsibilities**
A day in the life of a **Senior Community Engagement Specialist** at **Hackensack Meridian** **_Health_** includes:
+ Trains and mentors Community Engagement Specialists, as appropriate.
+ Works with the Senior Community Programs Manager to develop and execute departmental strategic community engagement initiatives and collaborations to enhance health equity.
+ Completes administrative tasks related to support of a team of Community Engagement Specialists.
+ Organizes and leads community events, workshops, and outreach programs.
+ Collaborates with organizations' public relations contact to maintain an active media and social media presence to promote community engagement initiatives.
+ Coordinates and collaborates with internal team members to ensure effective communication and alignment with community needs.
+ Supports Community Engaged Medical Educator (CEME) faculty with community programming.
+ Collects, and maintains data for all community engagement activities.
+ Ensures all logistics related to community engagement activities are organized in a timely, efficient and accurate manner.
+ Acts as a liaison for community organizations in planning and implementing community health improvement projects.
+ Champions and nurtures community partnerships including keeping up to date contact database for partnerships, vendors, community resources, 5d and key constituents.
+ Participates in various training, meetings, committees, and related activities as indicated.
+ Articulates the mission, vision, values of the program and its services as well as resources available throughout community health partnerships.
+ Participate in Boards of partner organizations when necessary.
+ Other duties as assigned.
+ Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies.
**Qualifications**
**Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:**
+ Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Public Health or other relevant area of study with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience OR a High School diploma and/or GED equivalent programs with a minimum of 8 years of related experience.
+ Proven ability to develop and implement successful community engagement strategies.
+ Excellent interpersonal, and presentation skills.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Proficient computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office and Google Suite platforms.
