Job OverviewAs a Senior Compliance Associate, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring Cortland’s adherence to regulatory standards, driving compliance across the firm’s investment advisory and capital management operations. You will manage the day-to-day compliance operations, coordinate with external consultants, and work alongside cross-functional leaders to create a proactive compliance culture.
Roles You Will PlayMaintain the firm’s regulatory risk matrix in collaboration with the CCO and external consultants, regularly assessing business and technology risks, documenting controls, and reporting program effectivenessImplement and monitor policies to prevent misconduct, detect regulatory violations, and uphold compliance standardsMonitor and track compliance metrics and ensure adherence to policies for employee trading, gifts, entertainment, outside business activities, political contributions, and certificationsCoordinate with the CCO and consultants on compliance audits, conduct routine testing, document results, and update the program as neededSupport annual compliance testing by collaborating with the CCO and consultantsAssist the CCO and compliance consultant with preparing annual compliance audit to monitor compliance with standards and procedures required by compliance policiesExecute routine compliance testing, document results, and adjust the program as needed to meet evolving standardsLead new hire compliance training and onboarding; manage internal communications (newsletters, intranet presence) to promote compliance awarenessAssist with preparation of required state and federal filings (e.g., Form ADV, Form PF), ensuring timely and accurate submissionsCollaborate cross functionally to ensure compliance in all marketing materials, private placement memoranda, side letters, due diligence questionnaires, investor reports, and other external-facing documentsMaintain and organize all compliance records, policies, training materials, and disclosures for easy retrieval and regulatory adherenceFoster strong interdepartmental relationships, supporting seamless implementation of compliance initiatives, and promoting a unified, proactive compliance approach throughout Cortland’s integrated structureWork closely with the CCO and outside compliance consultant, including delivering information in a timely manner Building Blocks of Success Ability to execute the day-to- day administration of a compliance function. Familiarity with applicable regulatory compliance rules and regulations, including the Investment Advisers Act of 1940 Proven ability to manage daily compliance functions in a dynamic settingStrong collaboration skills, able to work effectively with both entrepreneurial business units and internal stakeholders.Demonstrated ability to manage a compliance calendar, maintain relevant records, and handle compliance-related issuesProactive approach to cultivating a compliance-focused cultureStrong written and verbal communication, attention to detail, and intellectual curiosityEthical integrity, problem-solving capabilities, and adeptness at handling confidential informationProficient with Microsoft Office and compliance tools like CompliSci, Global Relay, Juniper Square, and OntraThis is an in-office position at our Atlanta office location Outro
