Senior Compliance Consultant - International Life/Manulife Bermuda
The Senior Compliance Consultant provides expertise and consultation to the Bermuda Business Unit (BU) and Asia Segment Compliance for initiatives including: + Anti-Money Laundering/Anti-Terrorist Financing Program management: - Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) reviews of new business applicants, inforce High Risk customers, banks, and third-party partners - AML alert reviews (watchlist and transaction monitoring) - Review of Real Time watchlist scans escalated by Operations - Ownership structure due diligence reviews - Payor due diligence reviews + Privacy Program management and incident reporting/handling + Monthly and quarterly Compliance reporting + Establishing and updating policies and procedures + Compliance training of employees This job description does not represent a comprehensive listing of job duties that are required of the employee performing this role. We reserve the right to change duties or assign additional duties at any time with or without notice. **Position Responsibilities:** + Acting as an Individual Contributor, sets direction, establishing goals and manages the tasks of the Compliance function + Establishes and maintains strong working relationships with the BU team, such as Underwriting, Titles, and Distribution, as well as related compliance teams + Coordinates and performs analysis on complex concepts that may require in-depth research and interpretation, such as New Business case reviews + Assists senior level team members with tasks and assignments as needed + Supports the BU in the development and implementation of policies and procedures that enable the business to remain in Compliance with regulatory requirements + Leads and supports special projects + Creates and provides training as needed to BU and/or Compliance staff. + Completes required reporting for the function at the BU, segment or divisional level + May represent Compliance on division-wide or global projects. + Collaborates with all areas of the organization to ensure Compliance needs and BU goals are met. + Shares best practices with other team members, thus ensuring consistency across BUs and division in the way business/process/products are developed and maintained to comply with Regulatory and Company requirements. + Aids the other members of the Bermuda Compliance team including the Senior Compliance Consultants, Compliance Director and/or Chief Compliance Officer. + Shares responsibility for ensuring the BU understands what is needed to comply. **Required Qualifications:** + College/University Degree and/or equivalent experience + 5-10 years of related financial services, Compliance or management experience + Excellent organizational skills + Excellent written and verbal communication skills + Strong technology skills including knowledge of applicable Compliance or business systems + Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills + Strong ethical compass + Comprehensive knowledge of the financial services industry with an advanced understanding of the Company’s businesses + Advanced understanding of the regulatory environment (primarily Bermuda and Canada) and a strong understanding of key compliance requirements applicable to the business. + Strong negotiating, influencing, and relationship building skills. + Ability to represent business internally within the company and externally outside of the company (e.g. regulators, industry peers). + Ability to work independently and with all levels of management within the organization + Strong project management skills + Ability to facilitate decision making across groups in the company + Relevant certifications, such as CAMS, or willingness to obtain certification(s) + Developing thought leader + Strong people/interpersonal and leadership skills + Strong business and product knowledge + Ability to analyze technical information, make appropriate recommendations to decision makers and ability to make decisions When you join our team: + We’ll empower you to learn and grow the career you want. + We’ll recognize and support you in a flexible environment where well-being and inclusion are more than just words. + As part of our global team, we’ll support you in shaping the future you want to see. **About Manulife and John Hancock** Manulife Financial Corporation is a leading international financial services provider, helping people make their decisions easier and lives better.
