A little about the position :
Job Summary
Lead value engineering projects within NA fiber glass business unit and identify opportunities for funnel build. Research and develop new design, materials, manufacturing technologies to drive the product cost productivity. Define project plan and execute the projects on time in budget.
Some of What You Will Do :
+ Spearhead value engineering projects from ideation to commercialization.
+ Define project plan and m anage project using stage process and complete projects on time and in budget.
+ Identify cost reduction opportunities in design, material and manufacturing process.
+ Design and develop new laminate structure for product cost reduction.
+ Research, identify and evaluate alternative material and product manufacturing process.
+ Present change proposals to management team.
+ Mentor junior engineer, and lab technician .
+ Identify and manage risks of change using DFMEA process
+ Collect and understand installation condition and process, define the simulation inputs .
+ Develop simulation to correlate design change with structural performance.
+ Develop validation process and plan to ensure the product performance.
+ Conduct lab test and installation test to validate structural performance and product life span.
+ Interpretate test data, present the result and recommendation to management team.
+ Define and maintain detailed material and specification s and evaluation processes.
+ Identify new manufacturing technology, develop and design new equipment.
+ Write report to show and ensure compliance with both internal and external regulations and protocols .
+ Communicate the project progress and findings timely cross functional team and management .
+ Facilitate problem-solving activities, ensuring root-cause identification is databased and corrective actions are validated and controlled .
+ Assisting manufacturing engineer and p rocess t echnicians to ensure the project implementation flawless .
+ Perform other duties as needed .
What You Bring to the Table : (Qualifications)
+ Knowledge of fiberglass/epoxy composite material, damage mechanics, and manufacturing processes.
+ MS or PhD in marine/aerospace/mechanical engineering with 7+ years of experience in composite structural design and analysis.
+ Strong understanding of composite structural analysis, failure modes of composite structures, how to set up structural analysis methods to ensure failure modes are clearly understood and margin to failure is quantified.
+ Ability to determine proper manufacturing process and optimize the process to be best fit with the structural design.
+ FEA modeling and analysis experience (ANSYS, NX Nastran preferred but not necessary), as well as applying hand calculations/handbook methods where appropriate.
+ Be comfortable developing test procedure and conducting structural testing, interpretate the results, and correlate with product performance.
+ Experience with Solidwork CAD.
+ Be team player, have effective written/oral communication skills, and interpersonal skills.
+ Experience evaluating performance of composite structures in building construction environment where corrosion, wet, UV, soil conditions are a factor is a plus.
+ Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced environment and manufacturing setting.
+ Strong computer skills, including Outlook, Word, and Excel (including spreadsheets/databases).
+ Up to 20% overnight travel can be expected.
+ Bilingual (Spanish and English) – Preferred

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across US geographic markets. Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, knowledge, skills, education, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
