CGI Federal is currently seeking a Senior Computer Scientist with active Top-Secret clearances to support a large project for a federal government client.
This position can be filled in Washington, DC.
Will research conceptual ideas, conducts experiments, and applies their knowledge to develop existing technology and create more effective applications.
• Creating or revising computer algorithms
• Writing new programming languages or code
• Evaluating new computer systems or devices
• Designing models or theories to solve computer problems
• Conducting research experiments to test new theories
• Upgrading computer systems or programs by designing new software
• Refining computer systems and hardware to improve efficiency and speed
• Collaborating with computer engineers and software developers to produce new technology
• Using models and studies to collect relevant data
• Applying data to create applicable insights and solutions
• Creating databases to store information for organizations
• Developing new products or solving practical computing problems
• Conducting research involving experimentation and modeling
• Working as part of a research team with programmers, IT professionals, and mechanical, electrical, or software engineers to solve problems and create new products
• 8+ years of proven work experience as a Computer Scientist or similar role
• The ability to think through problems and find solutions with various computer technologies
• Experience working with leaders in an organization to identify their needs
• Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, C++, or others, depending on the specific field of focus
• Proficiency in data analysis, machine learning, or artificial intelligence techniques and tools
• Knowledge of software development methodologies and practices, including agile methodologies and version control systems
• Familiarity with database management systems and SQL for efficient data storage and retrieval
• Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities to tackle complex computational and mathematical challenges
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders
• Ability to adapt to evolving technologies and learn new programming languages and frameworks quickly
• Understanding of computer architecture and operating systems principles
• Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and practices to ensure the security of computer systems and data
• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent work experience and certifications.

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and license and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $108,600.00 - $213,800.00.
