**What you'll be doing**
As a member of CIBC’s Technology Risk Control and Compliance team in the 1st Line of Defense, the Senior Consultant, will be responsible for providing advice and consultation for Technology Risk and Governance related matters to ensure we have the appropriate risk posture for the organization from a Technology perspective. The role provides technical leadership, interpreting complex information and participating in review sessions to influence decisions regarding risk and governance. The Senior Consultant manages refresh programs for the organizations Technology Controls and Key Risk Indicators. The role provides expertise to technology partners and peer groups across all three lines of defense, utilizing a solid understanding of risk and governance. Working with partners in the 2nd and 3rd Line of Defense, the role will review all deficiencies across the organization and identify any technology related themes resulting a better understanding of technology related risks to the organization. The role independently resolves a variety of ambiguous challenges with organization-wide impacts, devising new methods using strong analytic and inductive thinking.

**How you'll succeed**
+ **Understanding and Documenting Requirements -** Work closely with business partners and peer groups to gather complex technology risk related data and facilitate solutions and discussions to ensure the organization better understands and improves its risk posture from a technology perspective.
+ Build strong relationships, lead discussions, listen and ask the right questions to ensure solutions meet requirements.
+ Review organizational deficiencies and identify technology-related risk patterns.
+ Conduct gap analysis to enhance risk awareness and mitigation strategies.
+ Document and translate complex technology risk requirements.
+ **Technology Risk & Governance Advisory -** Act as the first line of defense for technology risk and governance matters.
+ Provide expert consultation to ensure a strong risk posture for the organization.
+ Establish, monitor, and enhance key risk indicators (KRIs) to proactively identify areas of concern.
+ Offer technical leadership and interpret complex risk-related information.
+ Participate in review sessions to influence governance decisions.
+ Oversee the refresh program for technology controls and key risk indicators.
+ Ensure alignment with industry best practices (ITIL, COBIT). Communicate findings and recommendations to leadership to drive informed decision-making.
+ **Leading and Mentoring** – Support end-to-end implementation as a subject matter expert, and provide guidance to a diverse team of technology and risk professionals.
+ Maintain a collaborative work environment and support team members to resolve organizational, operational, and process problems.
+ Support the implementation of risk initiatives as an SME.
+ Guide technology and risk teams with best practices and governance frameworks.
**Who you are**
+ **You can demonstrate experience with:** 3-4+ years in technology risk and governance role.
+ Excellent abilities to manage stakeholders and having strong communication skills is a must. Ability to influence decision-making and risk governance strategies.
+ You have strong abilities around analyzing and understanding data, as well as gap analysis expertise.
+ You are proficient with Excel pivot tables, and other Microsoft office applications.
+ You have strong problem solving skills, stakeholder management abilities, and exceptional organizational skills.
+ You have supported risk and compliance assessments, audits, and reporting efforts.
+ **It’s an asset if you** have a strong understanding of NIST, ITIL and COBIT best practices and relevant regulatory requirements.
