Senior Consultant - Energy & Utilities
The Role
An opportunity to work in the the Energy and Utility Industry for a Consulting manager with expertise in the energy trading sector to lead and execute consulting projects with a primary focus on requirements gathering, stakeholder management, and project execution. This role involves working closely with clients to understand their business challenges, translating these into actionable solutions, and driving the successful delivery of projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of energy trading markets, regulatory frameworks, and IT systems, combined with strong consulting experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the collection of detailed business and technical requirements for various energy related projects such as trading, digital transformation and process improvements. Collaborate with clients to understand their business objectives, challenges, and operational workflows to identify key needs. Conduct in-depth interviews, workshops, and surveys with business users, IT teams, and compliance departments to elicit functional and non-functional requirements. Create comprehensive documentation, including requirements specifications, process maps, and use cases, ensuring clarity and alignment with project goals. Identify potential gaps, inefficiencies, or automation opportunities in existing processes and provide actionable insights for improvement. Oversee the end-to-end execution of consulting projects within the energy trading domain, from initial scoping through to delivery and handover. Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and resource allocation strategies to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget. Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including consultants, analysts, developers, and external vendors, to ensure seamless collaboration and successful project outcomes. Monitor project progress, track milestones, and proactively identify and address risks or issues that may impact project delivery. Ensure that all deliverables meet quality standards and are aligned with client expectations and industry best practices. Support the growth of the consulting practice by identifying opportunities for additional services, fostering long-term client relationships, and promoting consulting offerings. Collaborate with the sales and business development teams to develop proposals, RFP responses, and project scoping documents for new engagements.Qualifications:
· Educated to Undergraduate degree
· Bachelor or Masters in business administration or equivalent
Essential Skills:
· Exceptional skills in requirements gathering, business analysis, and the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
· Expertise in stakeholder management, with the ability to work with diverse, cross-functional teams and manage executive-level client relationships.
· Excellent project management skills, including proficiency in project planning, resource management, risk mitigation, and reporting.
· Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, with the ability to lead workshops, present to senior management, and manage stakeholder expectations.
· Excellent team player who possess strong interpersonal skills
· Strong skills in project planning, execution, and delivery, including risk management and issue resolution.
· Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively engage with senior stakeholders.
· Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
· Experience working with Agile tools like Rally, JIRA etc.
Nice to have skills:
· Experience with energy trading platforms and tools.
· Knowledge of regulatory compliance tools, particularly those relevant to KYC, AML, and counterparty risk in energy trading.
· Certifications in project management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, Agile) or business analysis (CBAP).
· Experience with data analysis and business intelligence tools to support trading operations and decision-making
· Agile product manager certifications
· Agile Scrum master certifications
