If so, then Georgetown University’s School of Continuing Studies (SCS) wants you! We’re seeking a creative and energetic Senior Content Strategist & Copywriter to lead the marketing communications efforts for SCS and its many diverse programs. Reporting to the Director of Digital Marketing, this position plays a leadership role on the Marketing team, and is responsible for overseeing the School’s content strategy across all channels, and serving as the voice and brand steward of SCS. This includes managing all website content, managing key messaging across all programs, and developing content for all paid media placements, including ad campaigns, emails, and digital, print, and audio ads. In addition, the position oversees the strategy for all paid social and native advertising efforts. The position manages two direct reports—the Writer/Editor and the Social Media Marketing Manager. Additional duties include, but are not limited to:
Oversee the content strategy for all of SCS’s marketing communications to support marketing objectives, developing, managing and updating the key messaging for all programs, the SCS Editorial Style Guide, all email nurture campaigns in Marketo/Marketing Cloud, and paid advertising content including emails, e-newsletter ads, print ads, audio ads, and other paid placements.
Oversee all website content, including content for the Summer Sessions, Summer High School, and English Language Center microsites, as well as the strategy for all paid social and native advertising efforts to ensure all content is on brand and consistent in voice and tone.
Play a leadership role on the Marketing team by managing the strategy and execution of copy development and editing across digital and traditional environments for both internal and external audiences.
Manage the Writer/Editor, with whom they work closely to ensure all web stories align with marketing objectives, as well as the Social Media Marketing Manager, with whom they work closely on all paid social media and native advertising.
Work Interactions
This position, which reports to the Director of Digital Marketing, advances the student recruitment efforts and reputation of the School as well as the work of the Marketing team, Dean’s Office, program departments, and central administrative offices by developing, executing, and managing all SCS website content and advertising copywriting efforts. This position has two direct reports: the Writer/Editor and the Social Media Marketing Manager.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
5+ years of relevant experience developing content strategies, writing, and editing
Excellent writing, proofreading, and editing skills are required—writing samples will be requested
Demonstrated ability to write engaging marketing and advertising copy
Extensive experience with paid social media and native advertising strategy and execution
Experience with a CRM, and writing automated email communications for drip campaigns, with superb organization skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects at once
Adept at seeing the big picture as well as delving into granularities with excellent time management skills and ability to meet tight deadlines
Strong attention to detail with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Familiarity with AP Style of writing
Experience with IA/UX for web content and implementing SEO best practices

Pay Range:
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$54,616.00 - $100,493.33Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
