Join Caterpillar Inc. as a **Senior Control Systems Team Leader** and make a direct impact on the performance and operation of our Medium Tractor Product (MTP) that help build a better world. In this role, you will be a vital part of the MTP Technology & Controls Team, leading projects and developing innovative technical solutions focused on MTP customer needs. You will have the opportunity to shape the future of machine controls architecture and features, working with advanced technologies that power operator assist systems, remote control, and semi-autonomous machine operations. Your leadership and expertise will drive the creation of solutions that enhance the efficiency and safety of Earthmoving machinery.
**What You Will Do:**
+ Research and develop new electronic control system solutions that align with customer needs for operator assist, safety, remote control, and autonomy.
+ Provide team leadership, including project planning, budgeting, and resource allocation, to design advanced electrical control systems and integrate electrical and mechanical systems.
+ Collaborate with hardware, controls, and software engineers to verify and release software, troubleshoot issues, and validate solutions with operators and customers.
+ Work closely with a distributed, multidisciplinary team, effectively communicating ideas and development results.
+ Participate in research programs throughout their lifecycle, from launch to production.
**What You Have (Basic Qualifications):**
+ **Degree/Experience:** Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in an Engineering or Computer Science curriculum (preferably Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering) with progressive and extensive experience in control systems development (electronic systems and machine controls & software). Advanced degree will be considered with commensurate experience.
+ **Technology Advising:** Experience in technology advising with strong focus on embedded system. Proficiency in machine controls development tools, including CANape and CANalyzer. Knowledge of datalink protocols such as CAN, J1939, and Ethernet as applied to earthmoving equipment.
+ **Embedded Systems:** Experience working with powertrain, steering, and/or implement systems on earthmoving or similar equipment.
+ **Communicating Complex Concepts:** Ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to various stakeholders.
+ **Troubleshooting:** Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot machine-level hardware and software issues.
**Top Candidates Will Have** :
+ Focus on controls systems or mechatronics as part of undergraduate/graduate curriculum.
+ Excellent analytical skills and extensive understanding of complex engineering concepts and applications.
+ Excellent technical and problem-solving skills, with strong mechanical and hydraulics aptitude.
+ Experience developing and testing systems on track-type tractor machines or other earthmoving equipment.
+ Knowledge and/or experience with software design, kinematic design, control/robotics logic, electrical, electronics, hydraulic, software coding, embedded computer system, control theory and data communication.
+ Experience with Python, Matlab/Simulink, Docker and/or ROS.
+ Familiar with Autosar, GIT and IVY.
**Additional Info** :
+ 10% domestic and international travel is expected.
+ Domestic relocation is available to those who qualify.
