About the Copy Team

Our creative, fast-paced copy team is responsible for key messaging and product copy across all Williams Sonoma brand channels, including digital, catalog, store collateral and special projects.

About the Role

The Senior Copywriter will help create the brand voice across all marketing communications, which include digital, catalog and store collateral. The successful candidate will be both a strategic brand strategist and an excellent writer. S/he will undertake projects as well as manage and edit other writers. This position reports to the Senior Copy Manager. 

This is a hybrid role - 4 days/week onsite in our San Francisco office required.

Maintain the highest editorial standards for all copy and ensure that it conforms to the evolving brand voice. Drive brand forward with a fresh and approachable voice Write upper-level creative copy for all brand communications and ensure that voice and marketing messages are consistent across all channels and align with overall brand strategy Work closely with graphic designers in writing all editorial, headlines and taglines for marketing communications including catalog, direct marketing pieces, e-commerce and retail, to ensure holistic concepts  Work with creative partners, including Executive Creative Director to ensure all editorial copy, headlines, taglines and home page content are inspirational and compelling   Work with creative partners, including Executive Creative Director and writers to establish needs for each season, as well as work cross-functionally with Merchants, Product Development and Product Information teams  Track revisions, manage and obtain approvals for all writing assignments

Bachelor’s degree   7+ years writing experience in advertising agency copywriter/copy lead role (required) Knowledge of food/cooking/entertaining (preferred) Familiarity with Chicago Manual of Style and AP Style  Prior experience working on highly recognized, industry-leading brands (preferred) Excellent creative writing, research and editing abilities Exceptional resourcefulness, including being a calm, logical thinker who is able to find solutions to complex issues Ability to think conceptually, ensuring creative tone/voice support the brand voice and key objectives of the season—and are appropriate for all channels   Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional partners and ensure copy/voice align with brand strategies A commitment to being a self-starter and staying focused in an extremely fast-paced, deadline-driven environment  Excellent organization and prioritization skills, with ability to handle multiple projects across several seasons/packets/channels  Experience working with all levels of business partners  Exceptional teamwork and project management skills A creative, positive and flexible attitude 

Technical Competencies required:

Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, CMS, MMT (database management) Familiarity with data cloud and storage services

Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time Ability to type on a keyboard and operate a PC Ability to converse over a telephone Ability to work in office and perform in corporate environment

The expected starting pay range for this position is $85,000 - $90,000 annually. Applicable pay ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. In addition to competitive pay, compensation may include a variety of other components like benefits, paid time off, merit, and bonus opportunities.
