Senior Corporate Energy Correspondent, London
Reuters is seeking an experienced correspondent to cover global energy companies from London. The successful candidate should have superb contacts with energy majors, investors, regulators and policy makers to break news, identify and write about industry changes and execute ambitious, investigative stories.
This is a great position for a reporter who can move effortlessly from breaking news about companies such as BP, Shell or Total through spot news on investments and company results to deeply reported investigative stories on the sector. You will provide world-class journalism on boardroom upheavals, changes in strategy and how some of the world’s largest energy companies navigate the transition to a lower-carbon economy.
You will deliver breaking news on staff changes, asset sales, mergers and acquisitions and negotiations with government around the world on new projects, investment and taxation. We're looking for a collaborative team player to break stories with reporters from the wider global energy team across subjects ranging from OPEC, U.S. tariffs and sanctions to the energy transition, climate change and renewable energy. You will join a strong, competitive reporting squad that has a hard-won reputation for producing agenda-setting coverage for both our core energy and commodity market participants, as well as for our media, investor and financial professional audience.
Attention to detail, a proven track record of source building and exclusive reporting and data skills are required.

Provide world-class corporate energy coverage.
Generate and execute original ideas for initiative stories.
Be a strong all-round journalist comfortable breaking news and filing at speed as well as working on long-form pieces.
Work closely with the global energy team.
About You
To be our Senior Corporate Energy Correspondent, you will ideally have:
Demonstrable experience of covering energy, preferably with experience in corporate news coverage.
Ability to read and analyze profit/loss and balance sheets.
A proven ability to develop deep sourcing and break news.
A track record of reporting and writing long-form stories.
Strong news judgment, ability to write with speed, clarity and accuracy.
The ability to clearly explain complex industry subjects to a wide audience as well as to a financially sophisticated reader.
Experience using data and analytical tools in story telling.
