Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Cost Accountant to join our team in Rockford, Illinois. In this long-term contract role, you will play a critical part in overseeing financial operations, ensuring compliance, and providing detailed financial analysis to support key business decisions. This position offers a great opportunity for a detail-oriented individual to contribute to a dynamic and collaborative environment.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee and manage financial closing processes, including preparing journal entries and ensuring accuracy in financial reporting.
• Conduct in-depth financial analysis and provide insights to support strategic decision-making.
• Prepare comprehensive reports, including metrics and financial notes, to communicate financial performance effectively.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, financial regulations, and audit requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute capital management and improve operational efficiency.
• Develop, document, and maintain financial procedures and policies to support organizational goals.
• Provide training and guidance to team members on financial processes and tools, such as Microsoft Excel.
• Review and approve purchase orders, agreements, and other financial transactions to ensure accuracy and adherence to specifications.
• Perform ad hoc financial tasks, including analysis and reporting, as needed by management.
• Support internal audit processes by preparing necessary documentation and addressing audit findings. Requirements • Proven experience in cost accounting or a related financial role, preferably at a senior level.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial tools.
• Excellent understanding of compliance, auditing, and internal control processes.
• Demonstrated ability to manage financial reporting, including journal entries and closing processes.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills to present financial information clearly and collaborate with various teams.
• Familiarity with financial planning, capital management, and purchase order processes.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification is a plus.
