Senior Cost Accountant

This position will report to our EnerSys Energy Systems business, which serves the telecom, cable broadband, industrial, renewable, and data center markets. Compensation Range: $72,300-$90,000 

Compensation may vary based on applicant's work experience, education level, skill set, and/or location.  

Job Purpose

The Senior Cost Accountant will be responsible for costing, variance analysis and gross margins analysis, working heavily in the company’s fully integrated ERP system. The Cost Accountant will also have overall responsibility for inventory valuation. The position requires both day to day transactional responsibilities along with value added ad hoc project activities working with operations, engineering and product management to effectively manage the company’s costing system.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Contributes to publication of Monthly Financial Statements by performing monthly Cost of Sales analysis, Gross Margins, and explains any material variances.  Prepares new Gross Margin reports as requested i.e. by product line etc • Tracks Gross Margin on New Product introductions.  Maintain and update standard costs on a regular basis  Prepares Cost, Variance and Gross margin analysis, write reports and recommends efficiency improvements as needed  Create costing models and assist with setting standard costs, including recommending labor and overhead methodologies and rates  Analyze inventory values and transactions ensuring item costs are set up correctly • Use judgment to work together with operations to maintain inventory obsolescence reserves.  Help manage and analyze RMA process and warranty costs Qualifications Should be in advanced stages of completing a Professional Accounting degree. • Five plus years cost accounting and inventory experience in a manufacturing environment preferred  Familiarity with standard costing in a discrete manufacturing environment, preferably within electronics industry  Aptitude for and interest and experience in financial analysis  Advanced Excel skills including modeling, pivot tables, and Vlookup  Experience with an integrated Tier 2 ERP system, Syteline ERP preferred Excellent and proven analytical and problem solving abilities  Well-organized individual with excellent attention to detail General Job Requirements This position will work in an office setting, expect minimal physical demands. Must be able and willing to work overtime.
