What You Will Contribute:
The Senior Cost Analyst is responsible for supporting Supply Chain, Finance, and Operational Plant Management with inventory, cost, and variance analysis for Badger Meter’s North American facilities.
Job Duties:
Conduct the annual standard cost roll process and review to develop reasonable standard costs. Investigate cost issues and analyze the year-over-year cost revaluation and corresponding margin changes.
Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records through inventory account reconciliations, inventory reserve calculations, and proper inventory valuation in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Assist in reviewing and recording proper manufacturing variances related to purchase price variance and absorption. Perform root cause analyses and provide explanations to management, as required.
Assist with inventory accuracy and audits by preparing any necessary reports to assist with counts, review processes within software to ensure adequate controls for entry, and review variances.
Prepare reporting packages and lead management meetings on inventory, obsolescence, and variances. Develop ad-hoc reports and analysis and assist in projects for Supply Chain, Finance, and Operational Plant Management.
Assist with the development and maintenance of department policies and procedures.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field required.
5+ years of related experience in cost accounting desired.
Qualifications:
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel and Outlook) required
Advanced knowledge of BPCS/AS400 or comparable ERP system required
Intermediate knowledge of MicroStrategy preferred
